The entire event this year seemed really ty to me. The dunk contest sucked horribly, the 3pt contest and skills challenge was meh. Even the All star game itself sucked. I think they need to put in some type of incentive to actually try and have a semi real game. This no defense Globetrotter has to go. Its so boring and is painful to watch.

Maybe if the winning conference gets $25k per player to give to a charity in their teams city or something. , I dont know? But something to get these guys to play for real a bit better.

dunk contest - we've seen every possible dunk. replace it with tha one on one tourny or something else.
3 point shootout - it is what is. I honestly don't like that they have the full money rack now instead of just keeping it the traditional way, but whatever.
all star game - it is what it is. why should these guys play harder and risk injury for a meaningless game. even if it decided HCA in the finals it's still irrelevant to most players.

This, plus advancements in technology have made the whole concept of an all-star game pointless. All-star games were awesome in a world where there was no basic cable, no digital cable, no satellite packages like Sunday Ticket and Extra Innings, and no online streaming services like League Pass. All-star games were often the only time that fans all over the country could see certain players outside of when their teams played against those players' teams. Now, it's so easy to watch every player on the all-star team play whenever we want. There's no reason for anyone to care anymore.
I didn't watch any all-star events this year either and I'm not surprised to see this thread come up. The all-star game has been complete for years now. It's like watching a glorified layup drill / shoot-around. I'm sure a player like Kawhi who actually takes pride in being a good defender was bored out of his in mind

Yeah...same here. Maybe because "back in the day" not every player could pull of spectacular dunks so it was more in line with a real game.
Or maybe it's just because everything has been done.

They jacked up 122 3 pointers and don't even bother to select centers to the game anymore. Even 5 years ago, the game would ramp up and get exciting in the 4th quarter. Those days are over.
