sure they can. i was referring to the media. i haven't seen a critic tear it down. doesn't mean they haven't.
how about this, has it been nominated for anything other than looks?
What's your point? People can't have opposing views?
sure they can. i was referring to the media. i haven't seen a critic tear it down. doesn't mean they haven't.

I don't know or care. I'm rating MY experience in a thread that says to do so. It was long, drawn out and boring to me. As far as recent space sci-fi movies that I love, I can't put it anywhere near Interstellar and Elysium.
Arrival was all about Amy Adams. Very little about aliens.
The premise why the aliens arrived was horrible
Yeah...this was one of the most disappointing movie I've seen in several years. Thought it might be something like Interstellar or Contact. I'll usually at least check out Rotten Tomatoes for the scores. And they're usually a good indicator for me if both the audience and critics have high scores. Not on this one. Same with Gravity. Both sucked. IMO, Arrival was less sucky than Gravity though. 3/10 is about right.
LOL...it was.
Abbot: Hey to save ourselves, let's give the humans a puzzle to solve by spreading it among 12 countries.
Costello: Yeah...and let's make it so hard that only 1 out of 7 billion people will get it.
Let's base our future survival on that.
I liked Gravity more than I liked Arrival. I might have liked it a little bit more because we saw an Imax showing but it wasn't a very good movie overall, it was basically an over priced version of Open Water but with space as the setting and sans the somber, draw-your-own-conclusion ending.
The best part was the daddy daughter dance.
Hacksaw Ridge 8/10 : Good movie and apparently a true story.
Imperial Dreams -- Though there are quite a few looks of life in South L.A. (Watts), this one has a tad bit more hope in cinematic form. It stars John Boyega as Bambi--a 21-year old released from prison and attempting to change the ways of his troublesome past and attempts to better his future for him and his young son Day. It also shows the antagonist characteristics around him. The grittiness of life as an ex-convict and dealing with the troubles of his relatives and also offers a contrast with his brother who is attempting to scrounge enough cash to finish his education at Howard. It's not the best written movie about how life can be dire in the streets, but it is well acted by John Boyega in the lead role. It's also on Netflix if you want to check it out. out of 5 stars--I give it 3.5
That looks pretty good. I've been having trouble finding any movies to watch so I've gone through about 10 do entaries in the last few days.
I agree

I don't think you're allowed to name Contact as a good sci fi movie and then on Arrival.
wtf. Nothing wrong with Contact. Not one of the best all time but I expected Arrival to at least be that good.
This was very good. Nothing groundbreaking in terms of the story but it was well done and the characters were very believable. Really liked the ending. Don't want to spoil it. But glad they didn't take one of the obvious routes.
Your 3.5/5 seems right.
Anyone seen Get Out? I can't wait to see it.
Yeah, I mean that plot has been done before and with great success. I liked this because it didn't do as you said. It is worth the view if you're looking on the Flix and don't have anything else to watch. On a different note, Santa Clarita Diet is pretty funny watch on it as well.
Yeah...I do want to see that. I kind of quit watching comedies because I couldn't ever find anything very good. Will probably give this one a shot.
I think Drew Barrymorea and Timothy Olyphant have prety good chemistry. It's like only 30 minutes a pop so you're not really investing too much time if you decide it's not your steez or if you just want to semi-binge.
I was gonna try Santa Clara show but it's only got 2 1/2 stars and the preview for it looked awful. I still may give it a go
Great Wall - 4/10
Gold - 6/10
John Wick 2 - 8/10
Yeah Great Wall looks pretty weak
I didn't read too many reviews because I didn't want to catch a spoiler. But from what I did read, a lot of people were turned off by the gore.
Get Out: A firm 10 out of 10. Lot's to this movie, but needless to say it was extraordinarily well done.
