Lots of companies are leaving Cali and a lot of SMBs here in the Valley are either closing shop or downsizing. Our marketing firm is expanding with a second location opening on April 3rd. We've opted to open that location in Boise, Idaho instead. The lower minimum wage allows us to keep our rates low for our Clients, allows us to give a better incentive/raise structure to employees and the Co. saves countless thousands in taxes. Our sales have increased 10-15% annually, which is also inline with our employee growth. We did $1.16 mill in sales last year, our highest yet, we had 20 FTEs and 4 Salaried members of Management and sadly, after the $1.00 increase on minimum wage, the increase in our benefits package, taxes, mandatory PTO-which saw call-ins rise 20%, not ironically, and so on and so on, margins shrunk from 30% in 2014 to 10.34%. No ing bueno. We slowed our marketing efforts a little bit at the end of the year to slow the growth a little as it just didn't make sense to try and grow further here. We looked at Vegas, Phoenix, San Antonio and Boise.. Boise was the best bet. Our projections by end of year have our margins up to 18.5% if we keep the same staff volume here at HQ. If we could shift all our workload to Boise, our margins would jump up another 5-8 points.

I always LOL at conservative attempts to portray California as a declining socialist state where businesses are getting screwed. Every year several hundreds of thousands of businesses shut shop in the US, and hundreds of thousands of new businesses are created. Some businesses move across state lines. Drawing conclusions based on 1 or 2 anecdotal cases is stupid. Instead, you should look at aggregate numbers.
California recently overtook France in nominal GDP. It's 2015 growth rate was greater than the US average and that of most red states.
The reality is that if a business is engaged in commodity work, it makes more sense for it to move to a lower-cost location. However, if a business needs to be located close to a deep talent pool, a thriving investor community and a large consumer market - then moving to Idaho et al is not a viable strategy.

I stopped buying Pedigree dog food (owned by Nestle) some years back because it was linked to dogs dying solely on that diet. Freshpet is a far better buy in terms of quality imo.
Damn, they made a scrumptious chocolate bar. Remember, it had that white and red packaging. Lord-a-mighty that was delicious. You'd let it just get nice and soft and set it in there, let it melt a little bit more in your maw and then bite into it. It wasn't an orgasm, but, it was orgiastic.

It's already #6 if you would consider it a country of it's own. Not only their economy has been growing, but their GDP (2.4 trillion) is almost 1 trillion more than the #2 state (Texas, 1.6 trillion).

That guy is just some dentist. I don't see why he should be looked at as an authority on dog food.
You don't have to be specially trained in order to read an ingredient list and decide if you're buying crap or paying too much for what you're getting. Basically that's all his site does.
I consider a food crap if it keeps getting recalled, and that site recommends dog foods that do.
It gives a star rating based on ingredients, tells you what the ingredients are, and also gives the recall history of the food. It's just info for people to make their own decision. What's the problem?
It's ridiculous to give dog foods 4 and 5 stars just because they don't have grain when they keep getting recalled.
