Gentry should relax, Kawhi isn't travelling lol. It looks bad cause it's long slow strides, but it's still a legal move.

And in that same respect it's unfair to use the first two games from this year and the final game from last season since the Pelicans were gutted by injuries. In the games that both teams have been relatively healthy over the past three seasons the Spurs have struggled against the Pels.
Um, no. Three of the Spurs losses in 14-15 were with a hobbled front court. So even if you just count "healthy games", the Spurs are 5-2. The Pelicans not having depth is one of their defining characteristics; the Spurs' best one-on-one defensive big essentially suffering a career-ending injury isn't. You really have to jump through hoops to make it seem like New Orleans has SA's number. The usually take at most one game from them, and this season seems like it could go the exact same way.

The Spurs were an Omer Asik tip-in away from getting swept in 14-15, and that was with the Pelicans missing Jrue Holiday/Eric Gordon/Ryan Anderson in all but the final game. Last season the Spurs went 3-1 but one of those wins came with both Davis and Holiday out, and most of last year's games were close. This season in both of the Spurs' wins the Pelicans were missing a lot of players, and in the one game they were healthy this year they blew the Spurs out. The injury excuse can go both ways.

It's also great to see Kawhi having no issues scoring against the Pelicans like he has in the past. He had that one game last year where he scored 28 or so but for the most part the Pels, notably Holiday, have guarded him well. Kawhi is having none of it tonight.

Announcers are nut hugging Kawhi and it's well deserved. He looked great first half.

His three point shot has been terrible the past month. Maybe Chip and him are reworking it?

It can. Your bias is coming from trying to pare down the time to where the Spurs struggled (one season) and saying it's defined recent history. It hasn't in total games in the Davis era, the Spurs have won 13 and lost six. In non-critically injured or hobbled games, the Spurs have won however many that didn't cover already and only lost three.

Only when you try to use a year where the Spurs were injured but exclude the games were NO was injured does it look like the Spurs struggle. They don't. If they win this year, it will be 4/5 years where they have won at least three games in the series. Even if they don't, over those four seasons, they will have a 12-4 record against them. It's been about as dominant as you'd expect.

20 point half on 12 shots, and only 4 of them from the FT line. Yeah, that's a pretty good half.
