Lot's of people chipped in and there was a lot of bad luck too (SA missing some bunnies on great moves, HOU hitting some tough ones).

Spurs played really bad defense in the first half. Really bad. They gave up a lot of rebounds they should not have. LMA played the most disappointing game I can remember from him. But they stuck with it, TP came up big when they needed him and Kawhi just played a superstar game on top of Harden's superstar game.

Kawhi's teammates need to help him out more. They need to be telling him after this one that they will try harder and back him up.

Anyway, man, Kawhi, I can't believe how great he's made himself. Unbelievable performance from Kawhi.

LMA, while playing a very disappointing game, made some winning plays towards the end.

I agree 100%. He made BIIIIIG shots tonight. We couldn't have done it without him.

It helped that the Rockets decided to just stand and watch him shoot over and over again. ing Mike D'Antoni teams.

Leonard really is as good as anyone in the league right now, no doubt.

In a head-to-head matchup with Harden, you bet it will make a difference. Anybody who's going to cast a vote is going to remember that performance. That 3-pointer was just stone cold.
Absoultely. Like I said, this was the epitome of the MVP race. Harden put up an MVP performance on the road, but there just so happened to be another MVP level performance that stood out even more because it meant making plays on defense as well and getting the win.

Great team effort with Kawhi closing in the end, as it should be. Props to Parker for keeping us close with some timely buckets in the 2nd half.

It looks like they are going in without any scouting report, playing their , and then adjusting as they go.
You can see the defense changing after the 1st quarter and throughout, becoming more and more effective.
It's been that way for the past several games, if not more.

Other than the flukey 1st quarter, the Spurs controlled that game.

Rockets...spotted a 16 point advantage and still losing
Interesting take. But if you're the Spurs that's what you do - play bad defense the first quarter and dig yourself a hole to climb out of. I hope they can clean that up before the playoffs get here.

It's good to know we're capable of digging that hole and climbing right out of it. Not that hard to do against such a ty defensive team as Houston. Sean Elliott was clowning on their defense the entire game. He knew.

It would be much better if we could find a way to avoid having to climb out of those holes!

I'm going to use a term I've never used before - ever. That last 3 by Kawhi was Jordan-esque. That was a must-have possession, and he was just stone cold. No hesitation, and not thought that it wasn't going in. Throw in the block (and his overall defense)?

Doesn't make him Michael Jordan, but that right there is the stuff that a real MVP is made of.

Another thing is Kawhi is doing this every single night. He's come up huge in the 4th/OT these last four games. Harden is shooting under 40% since like February and 44% overall. Today was not the norm for him and it still wasn't enough.
