Even tho I disagree with Dirk, it's ridiculous and homerish to act like the Kobe vs Duncan debate is a completely one-sided, no contest win for Duncan.
Have you been saying Bertans is a future all star?
Didn't you say boban would be a rotation player on any other team?
Even tho I disagree with Dirk, it's ridiculous and homerish to act like the Kobe vs Duncan debate is a completely one-sided, no contest win for Duncan.
Spurfan and mavfan are a bit too chummy these days. Dirk.
I don't think I ever did, but I could have easily said it. I was/am pretty high on Boban, tbh.
And yeah, my mother ing Latvian is gonna be an all-star.![]()
Rings as the top dog
Duncan - 5
Kobe - 2
Regular season MVPs
Duncan - 2
Kobe - 1
Finals MVP
Duncan - 3
Kobe - 2
Seasons missing the playoffs
Duncan - 0
Kobe - 4
And I didn't feel like looking for stats such as PER, W/S, etc, or else it would be worse.
How much more one-sided do you want it?
now apply this same logic to your Peyton vs Brady take.
From a stats perspective, it is pretty one-sided.
For traditional stats, Duncan got the "big man" stats, and Kobe got the "guard" stats, so it's not really that much of a surprise. Kobe's got better scoring stats, but when you look at it as per 100 possessions, the difference isn't that big (35.8 vs. 29.7), but Duncan's better in the big man stats by a bigger margin than Kobe is in on the guard stats.
From an advanced stats perspective, it's not even close. Duncan had ORTG of 110 and DRTG of 96, Kobe has 110 and 105. Duncan is better at every single advanced stats other than 3pt attempt rate, asst % (small difference), steals %, and usage rate. Kobe is slightly better in OWS, but way worse in DWS (much worse in WS and WS/48), quite a bit better in OBPM but much worse in DBPM (much worse in overall BPM). Duncan is better in VORP as well.
The advantage for Duncan in the playoffs is even wider in the playoffs.

Peyton has like 4 MVPs to Brady's 1.
the classiest guy left in basketball.

but but but what about rings and SB MVP's and non-playoff seasons

To be one-sided you have to have all the arguments on your favour. A 4 to 1 MVP difference is a big enough case for the other guy, tbh. If Kobe had a 4 to 1 MVP advantage over Duncan I wouldn't be acting like it's re ed to have Kobe ahead of Duncan, tbh.
ah okay, so LeBron > Duncan, cool thanks. And Brady had 2 MVP's.
Yeah, Lebron > Duncan. I don't know when have I ever said otherwise, tbh.![]()
WTF Amb, this was a Dirk thread don't get sucked in to talking Kobe.
Agree but this thread is not about that ...
Peyton's got 5. Don't shortchange the goat
And Brady got 2, right? I watch every game I can, but I don't follow the NFL stats/history as closely as the NBA, tbh.
Dirk is a bad ass i moved to DfW around 2009 ...hevis even better when you watch him for 82 plus.
Fans and media said he was to soft to win a le as the alpha ...when i moved here.
Best big man shooter ever, best Euro and his 2011 was only bested by Steph last year as best season of shooting had ever seen ...difference is he rang during his, Steph did not.
Props to Dirk.
What if Kobe had the record for most one-and-dones in NBA history? Would you still be okay with him ranking ahead of Duncan because of regular season awards?
I used to be on the Peyton is GOAT bandwagon too but after what Brady did in the SB this year I can no longer deny Brady's GOATness, tbh.
True, but at this point, it is really tough to argue the Duncan vs. Kobe debate isn't one-sided
The only thing going to Kobe is that he played for a bigger market, and therefore has more exposure, which really isn't because he was better, just more marketable.
As for Dirk, he will be underrated for a long time. Offensively, he is definitely in the top 10 NBA all time, and is one of those rare players who can carry a championships team offense. Defensively, he was bad at the beginning, but I believe he became much much better later in his career.
Cuban is a boss. Dude epitomizes the average man who found money and is out on the NBA court hamming it up with stars, like he just ran out of the audience and no security guard stopped him. He's lived the dream, even if he did up what would likely have been a b2b.
I heard that re Marcelus Willey talk yesterday, and say he would take AI and Bernard King over Dirk. He even said Chris ing Webber. Said he's not even top 30, let alone 20.
He's a re . It sucks when the Clippers are on and I can't listen to PMS.
