Put him on the Warriors or Rockets (or Cavs!) and he'd easily have 100+ by now.

Still won't play meaningful minutes, sadly.
Yep. I've got a bad feeling that Pop will not be able to get over himself and play Bertie. LMA goes 6-21 as ball movement dies in a 2nd Round exit.

    Future all-star.
He is. His game has so many strengths.

Was sitting behind the Spurs bench and during two time outs in the huddle Pop spent nearly the whole time reaming Bertans a new one for missed assignments or dumb plays. Then toward the end Bertans drew a charge and Pop gave him a big thumbs up. Many would say that's Pop being a jerk but to me it says Pop has expectations of Bertans being an important piece going forward, probably next year though.

Well said. Pop is teaching. If he stops screaming at you, that's when you worry.

I don't mind Pop coaching. I do mind players being pussies for 2 whole minutes. I would never see that from Tim or any other spur. Maybe a lil yell from tony or manu but that's it.

Are you talking about Davis? Or Pau? Or whom?

So true. Spurs do all the hard work to get a high percentage shot, yet the Warriors and Rockets chuck out 3 point shots at every opportunity. They just need to be slightly lucky and they become tough to beat.

Like one of the plays I hate, Pau finds himself on the 3 point line, yet he choses to drive in traffic rather than taking the 3 point shot.

Hopefully this season, with LMA apparently out for an extended period. Pop HAS TO HAVE thick-skinned players who will respond to Pop's histrionics. I think the fear is that Pau the Prima Donna will respond to Pop's ass-chewing with a pouting fit that will render him an even softer player until he comes back around.

Why pick on Pau? You could say the same of Juice and Kyle - heck, often LMA and even Danny. Spurs don't rank 29th in 3-point attempts for their failure to generate good looks.

love bertans... my favorite overseas prospect since splitter... but i dont see him as an allstar. i see him as a super role player. he's a good shot-blocker, but overall not a good defender. offensively he has talents but so far hasn't really shown much ability to create his own shot, nor did he really show that too often over in europe.

albeit at a different position, his offense reminds me of belinelli, in that he's more than simply a spot up shooter, he can also make plays off the dribble when a defender closes out, and he's shown he's a good passer too off the drive, in that "secondary playmaker" role marco thrived in.

it's true that since he's 6'10, and it makes him more dangerous, but i don't see him being an all star. still, hope he's a spur for a long time, will be a great weapon

Are you saying they forced Davis to give a heart transplant?

Anytime I smell something that is going to derail a potential Championship my sensors go off.
I just don't want to be witnessing "LMA and Tony Parker combining for 12-42 as the OKC Westchucks (or other) eliminate the Spurs 4-2. Davis Bertans averaged 30 seconds per game under HOF coach Greg Popper."

We've seen stretches of The Beautiful Game these past few weeks. Bertie was a part of it. I'm not buying that we have to do the half court no passing game.

He can't defend the position to save his life, but he should come off the bench ahead of Simmons. I absolutely shutter when thinking about a Mills/Manu/Bertans/Lee/Gasol bench checking anyone, but you do what you have to do.

    Blazers loss:

    Bertans DNP
Aldridge 7-21 until a couple of spoon fed assists for dunks under the basket.

Nurkic owning the paint in the 4th qtr as CIA Pop went with LMA as the lone big.

    For the Bertans fans:
found this translation/summary of an interview he gave in latvian:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0e-ouYf5OSU
Davis starts by answering about the playtime he gets, especially lately: says he plays more than he actually expected before season.

Says the area he needs most improvement in is rebounds/defense is something he can always improve on.

About not firing away whenever he gets the ball – feels like he has to get into rhythm, if been sitting for 3/4. Says he’s always hated losing, so the Spurs mindset fits him perfectly.

Doesn’t expect to play much in the playoffs, but feels like he has to stay ready for short bursts, when extra scoring necessary.

On Pop: usual rookie answer about Pop being the most serious, authoritative coach. Has been learning from Monty Williams about paint play. Is especially excited about playoffs, opportunity to be part of a championship in his first season.

Says Mills and Manu have been helping him get acquainted, are his off-court buddies, on road trips. Manu always chooses the place to eat, since he’s been around. Says he enjoys the Latvian support, knows a lot of people get up early to watch him play. @
Some words about the NT: wants to play, but will see how the season ends, evaluate his physical condition and health, and regard what RC and Pop says.
Hopes he can stay with the Spurs for a long time, hopes he doesn’t get traded. Talks some about Porzee, said Kris has said he’d really like to play in the playoffs..
Says he gets to watch his brother, Dairis, play in the Euroleague, since most of the games are on at around noon time in Texas(so right after morning practice).
    That’s all, folks.
