Agreed, but still it was an arm hit not an elbow or knee to the head, which would have certainly caused more damage in this instance..That he is only missing one game is good news..
Yes a knee or elbow is killer. How does change the fact that Kawhi got hit full force with a ing forearm? You stand without bracing yourself and let me hit you with my forearm.

He got hit hard enough to pull him out of a game. He's required to go through concussion protocol. It's a simple as that.

You're right. Nobody is so "tough" that they can play through a potential brain injury. Meh... maybe they can. But they shouldn't. All the major sports have taken steps to protect players from concussion. Like I said, I used to think they were being too cautious. I was wrong.

I had three concussions - that I know of. And look what a fine, well-adjusted mental specimen I am.
All joking aside, if I knew then what I know now? I would have been a lot more cautious.

The skull gets snapped one direction. The brain is sitting still inside (inertia). The brain basically gets slammed against the inside of the skull. That's why football helmets can't fully protect against concussion. The damage takes place inside the skull.

I used to sort of smirk about how picky they are getting about concussions. I was wrong. Brains undergo chemical changes with concussion, and it takes time for things to settle down and heal. Otherwise you run the risk of permanent brain damage. It doesn't happen to everybody, but it does happen to some. I would hate to be the poor bas who draws the short straw.
Repeated, less severe blows to the head are at least as damaging as rare large ones. Linemen in football rarely take huge hits to the head but take tons of smaller hits, and they're the ones most likely to develop things like CTE.

And you make a great point later about "toughness." Playing through a concussion isn't tough, it's stupid. I'm glad the narrative is finally starting to change but it has a long way to go.

Great news ...I figured it wasn't was serious by the looks of it..

If Kawhi leads us to that Top seed without Aldridge for the rest of season, I don't know how you don't give him the MVP..
Who cares about the MVP. I can't believe how many Spurs fans around here seem to care about Kawhi getting the MVP. Since when was this important? Being healthy and trying to win the Championship is way more important to me. I'd rather Kawhi not get the MVP and play like Michael Jordan in the playoffs helping the Spurs get to the finals and winning it.

I agree but there is a case to be made that him winning such award increases the Spurs chances to win the le. Would be nice if he started to get the same level of respect from officials as the likes of harden, Westbrook, durant, etc. and winning MVP is just the next step in that progression.

It isn't an either/or scenario. Kawhi can win MVP and still lead the Spurs to a Championship.

Yeah, agree that it might help with the officials, but this season it's not announced until after the season is over, so it's not likely to make any different in these playoffs. What I said still stands, though. If he's playing at that level, then that's what we need for a chance to win it, that and LMA being healthy.

lol no Sherlock. Of course priority number one is winning it all, but individual awards and championships aren't mutually exclusive. What's wrong with, besides wanting to win it all, also wanting your favourite players to win individual awards?

I'd rather Spurs win the LOB, Kawhi the MVP and DPoY, Pop CoY, Manu 6th man, Simmons MIP and LA finals MVP (just to spread the wealth around, tbh).

Because I don't give a about MVP AT ALL. It doesn't increase your chances of winning the Championship.

Typical spurs fans not understanding the importance of individual awards for players confidence and Officiating whistles.
