Because they have an excuse.
They didn't get off to a sizzling start because they had to integrate Durant.
Then Durant went down and they are looking like a non-playoff team since (going 2-5, including the WAS game where Durant went down, beating only the Knicks and Hawks during that time).
Sure Bogut's illegal screens were missed, and Harrison Barnes' offense was important at times, but how can they drop from a 73 win team to such a horrible team when most of their core are still playing?
This^
Also, the egos on this team are getting out of control, and Kerr clearly is losing the respect of the team. Kerr thinks he's some combination of Popovich/Phil Jackson except without all the rings, and they're calling him out on it.
Nothing. Probably bored and uninterested. After a couple long and deep runs in the post season, that following regular season seems so long and tedious and irrelevant. Having a new toy like Durant kept things interesting earlier in the season. Now they're bored and just waiting for the playoffs to get here.
Understand also that this team has been to the finals two years in a row and won 73 games last year. No one's going to underestimate them and most teams are going to bring it against them.
They're missing their best player. They'll be fine.
This makes them sound like the Jordan Bulls, Shaq Lakers or Lebron Heat. Given what happened the last two years (Winning championship because of Irving and Love injuries, biggest choke job in NBA, or even major American sports, history), I am not sure if the Warriors have the criteria to be bored and coast. And even if they were, a coasting team would still look like a 50-win team (see the above three teams mentioned) rather than a non-playoff team.
Not sure about that either. A 73-win team missing their best player is still a potent team. The Warriors have look like absolute crap lately. Then you throw in those comments by AI and Green, and they look like a disgruntled team that doesn't seem to be on the same page.
Maybe I am reading too much into this, but the magic from last year has all but gone.
Not completely coasting, nor should they. But I mean when a really good team loses 5 of 7 or whatever it is, and they're still 52-14 overall and a +11 differential, how much do you think they're worried? They're not.
So look at all the factors, not just the long playoff runs the previous two years as I mentioned. Durant goes down and both Curry and Thompson have multiple games where they really struggle shooting from three point range. That happens in the dog days of the season. It's 60+ games deep into the season and they traveled cross country for several road games.
The five recent losses:
@ Washington - first full game after Durant injury and the second game of a road back-to-back. They lose by 4 points to a team now positioned with the second best record in the East. Not a bad loss.
@ Chicago - lose by 7 points when the team shoots 6-for-30 from three point range. Lost to a bad team, at best average team in the East. Still a road game. Not a horrible loss.
v. Boston - a home game where they lose to a solid Boston team by 13 points. Probably the worst loss of the four. Again shot 6-for-30 from three. Also the first and only home game after a five game East coast road trip. And the third game in four nights. Legs perhaps a factor.
@ Minnesota - lose by 1 point to a young team with some talented, young players on the road. By 1 point. On the road. If this were a loss after five straight wins, wouldn't think anything of it. Because they had a few other losses prior to it, something must be wrong with them.
@ San Antonio - Kerr rested the starters. Can't take anything from the loss.
Now, a fully motivated and fully healthy team likely goes 6-1 or 5-2 in that seven game stretch. But obviously they're neither. Their shooting has been bad and when they don't shoot the ball well, it will show since their offense revolves around the shooting ability of their guards. I don't expect that to continue to be a big problem. It's that part of the season and a tiring road trip with out their best player.
It's not that they're still world beaters or everything is perfect. But I don't think there much to the skid other than them needing to get healthy and motivated when the playoffs arrive. There was one kind of bad loss against Boston at home, perhaps also at Chicago arguably. But I don't think there's a major problem. It's not like they need to start playing better to make sure they make the playoffs.
Their weaknesses have been exposed.
Curry has gone into got mode.
Probably just motivation.
Curry doesnt look too happy either. Could easily see him move to a different conference.
Yeah that's what it seems like. Kerr might be the least likable coach in the NBA.
LeBron has destroyed their psyche, plain and simple
Contenders don't coast into 2-5 stretches, much less with seeding implications on the line.
They are just struggling right now, Curry seems like he has came down to Earth for good (still pretty great, of course) and players like Iguodala and Livingston don't look as good when they can't ride the splash brothers wave, imho.
They will be fine in the long run but you can't put this bad stretch on "boredom", imho. Not when their newly acquired Superstar went down and their old guard stars are eager to prove they can still win without him. GS players are desperately searching for wins, you can see it on the nervous body language displayed in the last couple of games.

gaymond has been non existent on offense and their centers are sketchy at best.
I think Kerr rested guys as a message to the team: Step up or sit down.
The playoffs are almost here and the Warriors are shifting into choke mode, per par.
Cavs have been sucking even worse lately![]()
Both.
Clearly the pouting and cliquey staying in the locker room was pure punk.
They are still good, have enough of a core to coast into the playoffs when the skinny got gets back.
Whether they are #1 or #2 seed is irrelevant. Look at their compe ion intodays NBA.
Spurs have the personnel to beat them but.....
Non-issue. The Cavs show up in the playoffs. The Warriors choke.
WRONG
Spurs in 2013-2014 had a 2-5 stretch
Mavs in 2010-2011 had a 2-7 stretch
Cavs last year had a 2-4 stretch
Heat in 2011-2012 had a 5-6 stretch
People are just making something out of nothing. The Warriors are without their best player who happens to be a top 3 player in the world too....... Cavs without Lebron could easily go 2-5, they're having a stretch like that WITH Lebron... and Spurs without Kawhi fell into a 28 point hole v the freakin Kings...
I haven't even checked but I'm willing to bet that stretch is when Dirk got injured tbh
And Caron might have already been injured by then but not 100% sure
Yeah... it was when Dirk got injured
But Durant is injured for the Warriors.
Looking now, it was even worse and a stretch of 10 losses in 13 games.
Even late in that season the boys had a 4 game losing streak
