There's always a man open when the other team doubles.
Thibbs started it tbh in Minnesota and the Spurs really struggled with it..
Teams have taken notice and it really puts the Spurs in a funk because our ball handling and playmaking from our guard play is lacking..
Hopefully Kawhi is learning from this and this will be his next step on becoming even a better player..

Of course it is but he's typically on th weak side..
The problem is Kawhi doesn't have the experience or skill set to counter it. His lack of play making us starting to show when it comes to this. Spurs dominated that type of defense in 14' against Miami except we don't have the players to exploit it

Kawhi just has to learn how to get rid of the ball quicker instead of getting deep into the double.
He's not quick enough to turn corner on a double on the PnR so he has to get rid of it more quickly instead of getting so deep that his view and passing lanes diminish.

Been obvious as for the past two years.
1st 20 minutes of last nights game we share the ball then durrrr urrrr failure to work their double teams.
Why the f someone on the staff can't penetrate Coach Cementhead and work on this is beyond me.

That and we don't really have a "pick your poison" situation. If we had one other guy who could consistently make the defense pay for doubling Kawhi. There's not a consistent scorer to keep teams from doubling him
The book for this terrible overrated offense has been out awhile. Doc Rivers started it when he doubled Kawhi and we had no answer.

He's a better play maker than TP. And who do you suggest he pass it to?
The Warriors defense and the defense I'm referring to is what the Heat did during their les run..they blitz, switch, double and swarm the PNR or ball handlers..It's not all Kawhi fault..but unlike the 14' team we don't have the skilled "passers" like Splitter, Diaw and a younger Manu and Parker..
It's a combination of things and I don't think our current personnel has the answers but Kawhi is learning and hopefully he's adjusting and can help figure this out. But he still tends to hold and try to beat the double off the dribble..ball moves faster passing then dribbling.
You gotta move the ball more and make GSW pay when they do blitz etc. and when they stop the Spurs can get back to dominating on ISO/Post up. But this team is struggling with it right now..
I agree. This is the answer. He wants to get his shot though and doesn't like to get rid of the basketball as soon as the double shows.
Help comes from Deadman but Deadman can catch lobs. In reality the guy that helps always comes from is Tony frankly.
c'mon guys Kawhi can pass the ball really well on doubleteams. check the last cavs game. I agree it's not so consistent as we want it to be though.
Not sure if this true. I wouldn't say he doesnt like it, I would say he's overwhelmed by the idea of having to be like MJ every second of the game to get a win. His teammates not being consistent in the season doesn't help to dissipate that feeling
His last play vs Memphis when double-team came and he found open Parker for the 3, showed he improved a lot at beating this strategy.
He should keep working on it, to maximize his improvements.
But also, the opposite teams use this "everyone but Kawhi" because they want that Parker/Patty/Manu/Danny to try to beat them.
At some point, Kawhi would have to force a bit to get him going because letting other Spurs players beat rivals isn't a winning formula either.
Exactly. Study tapes of LeBron, TD, even CP3 and learn to throw that skip pass
