Bull . The 2014 beatiful game was the most exciting style of play, and Parker was a little part of it. Duncan was boring...yeah, how much franchises would kill for a Duncan?
How and when did a stubborn coach like Pop switch from a slower, defense first, "grind it out" style of play to the offensive beast that just had 35 point playoff win?
This is a good question.
It was a relatively instant transformation, which kicked off at Pop's coaching camp in the 2010 offseason. Steve Kerr was invited to the camp, and he got to witness the beginning of San Antonio's complete iden y change:
Steve Kerr: [After the 2010 playoffs]. The next year I left the suns. I went back to tv. I called Popovich and I asked them if I could sit in on a couple of their camp practices... He invited me to the coaching retreat that they do every year before camp starts. So I sat in for two days with the coaches, and it was awesome. It was a great experience for me.
That was the moment when Pop basically announced that the Spurs had to start running. That we can't win anymore by just going into Duncan. We have to become Parker's team. It was cool. I was sitting in the conference room watching tape and everything Pop was showing. "We have to push the ball. We gotta run. We have to outscore our opponents. We have to change our iden y." From that moment on it became Tony's team, and they just got better and better. -BS Report, 05/30/2013

A "little" part of it:
2014 RS scoring leader: Tony Parker
2014 RS assist leader: Tony Parker
2014 Playoff scoring leader: Tony Parker
2014 Playoff assist leader: Tony Parker
2014 Finals scoring leader: Tony Parker
2014 Spurs All-Stars: Tony Parker
2014 Spurs All-NBA Players: Tony Parker
Really?, there's at least 4 players that were more important than Parker in 2014 playoffs run (in terms of impact). Duncan (great playoffs), Kawhi (very good in general, amazing in the finals), Splitter (good overall, specially against Dallas), Manu (except Portland series, good overall specially against Dallas, and in the finals played good too). But anyway, didn't want disrespect tony, just pointing that he was a part of the beatiful game, but no the main factor of it like you say.
HOF coach Kerr recognize game
Head Of Da Snak![]()
Hahahaha Splitter!!?!
2014 Playoffs:
Tony Parker: 17/6
Kawhi Leonard: 13/6
Manu Ginobili: 12/4
Tiago Splitter: 8/6
Does that Argie realize that ter was benched against OKC and Miami? Literally the only two series that mattered?
The length Argies go to discredit the head of the snake smh they even change history
Don't come here with empty stats, Splitter was outstanding against Dallas, and in the finals played good too. Tipical in the forum, Splitter was always underrated here.
"Head of the Snake" is the name Pop called Parker. Btw....
Robinson passed to torch to Duncan. Duncan passed it to Parker. Parker passed it to Kawhi

if you don't appreciate what Parker means to the franchise you are an utterly idiot.
Prime Parker was a beast plain and simple
Best guard in franchise history.
#10 all time point scored in NBA Playoff history
#5 all time assists in NBA Playoff history
5,046 more points scored than Manu
2,793 more assists than Manu
Too bad "prime Parker" is long gone.
championships are exciting ...
dat kind of happens tbh
Lol, bringing up the Dallas series:
Parker: 20/5
Splitter: 11/9
Game 7:
Parker: 32 pts, 4 ast
Splitter: 1 pt, 2 reb, 4 fouls
God damn![]()
this talk. Parker was fun as to watch but Duncan was brilliant. I don't care who was in the floor. 5 rings is not boring if it's your team winning them. Which wouldn't have happened without Timmy. Parker had his moments but if he wasn't there, they'd still have 5 rings.
Without a certain #20, Spurs might have 2 or 3 more tbh

It sure does.. as a franchise you have to deal with it properly. The Spurs have failed at this imo.
