Either were/are very qualified people. Although politically they may not have been. At least this is not a pure dumbass like Clarence Thomas.
The way this all was carried out, from Garland to Gorusch, is a shame.
Schumer is such a . If anything comes to the court dealing with Israel on a cons utional matter, he will be pleased with the composition of the court.
Hopefully trump will appoint 5 one down
Hahaha - getting really ambitious, ducks. I guess Ginsberg wanted the first woman president to choose her replacement was why she didn't retire under Obama and/or she was so sure Trump wouldn't win. If it were me, I wouldn't have taken that chance - I'd retire and enjoy my grandkids.
good, good, good and good![]()
Ginsberg, Kennedy, Breyer... all could go this term. Plus Thomas might retire and be replaced by another 50 year old in the mold of Gorsuch.
boutons_deux complaining about mitch mcconnell when he's the one who denied the first Trumpcare
"The ultimate anti-SJW. Bold, committed and unafraid."
Is this a parody account?
Sounds great to me but don't want to wish anyone ill (I'm assuming you mean death/illness for 1st 3 since you distinguished retirement for Thomas). That'd be 7-2 - for conservatives, that alone would make Trump's presidency a great success even if he didn't do a single thing else.
Sadly no.
Yay. A guy who thinks what slave holders wrote 200+ years ago should be taken literally.
Yay.
Could be death (particularly Ginsberg) but also retirement etc.
Yeah, and there isn't any process to amend the cons ution. Can't ever be changed or clarified.
dumbass
Trump denies he considered pulling Neil Gorsuch nomination: 'I never even wavered'
President Trump is disputing a news report that he almost pulled the nomination of Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch because he criticized the president's rhetorical attacks on judges.
"A story in the @washingtonpost that I was close to “rescinding” the nomination of Justice Gorsuch prior to confirmation is FAKE NEWS," Trump tweeted Tuesday. "I never even wavered and am very proud of him and the job he is doing as a Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court. The unnamed sources don’t exist!"
As the Senate considered Gorsuch's nomination earlier this year, Trump criticized federal jurists who had ruled against his proposed travel ban from Muslim-majority countries. The president called one a "so-called" judge, and described an appeals court panel as "disgraceful."
After a February meeting with Gorsuch, Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., said the Supreme Court nominee described these attacks as "disheartening" and "demoralizing."
The Washington Post, citing unnamed sources, reported that those comments upset
Trump, who "worried that Gorsuch would not be 'loyal.'"
The president, according to the report, "told aides that he was tempted to pull Gorsuch’s nomination — and that he knew plenty of other judges who would want the job."
The Republican Senate confirmed Gorsuch to the lifetime post, and Trump frequently takes credit for his confirmation as a key accomplishment of his time in office.

Trash is SO IGNORANT of US govt, that he thinks a SCOTUS judge he nominates must be "loyal" to Trash.
Trash is LYING about worrying that Gorsuch wouldn't be loyal to Trash personally, because Trash ALWAYS LIES.
an Oldie But EXCELLENT goodie
Unanimous Supreme Court overturns a Gorsuch decision ... in the middle of his confirmation hearing
Neil Gorsuch’s belief in
reading the law as narrowly as needed to screw ordinary people
reared its head again during his Supreme Court confirmation hearing
Under Gorsuch’s opinion in Luke P.,Sure, maybe if Antonin Scalia had been alive, the Supreme Court’s decision would have been 8-1, but
a school district complies with the law so long as they provide educational benefits that “must merely be ‘more than de minimis.’”
“De minimis” is a Latin phrase meaning “so minor as to merit disregard.”
So Gorsuch essentially concluded that
school districts comply with their obligation to disabled students so long as they provide those students with a little more than nothing.
All eight justices rejected Gorsuch’s approach.
IDEA, Chief Justice Roberts wrote, “is markedly more demanding than the ‘merely more than de minimis’ test applied by the Tenth Circuit.”
Indeed, Roberts added,
Gorsuch’s approach would effectively strip many disabled students of their right to an education.
Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas just said Gorsuch was wrong—and wrong because he would deny disabled kids an education.

Gorsuch exemplifies the extremist and/or incompetent trash judges the oligarchy is promoting to Trash.
Of course disabled kids need lots of extra TAX DOLLARS that the avaricious, predatory oligarchy assholes want for themselves.
Gorsuch isn't that bad. Certainly not as bad as some of the goobers he could have nominated.
You shouldn't be surprised when Republicans control the Senate and White House and they put a generic republican onto the Supreme Court
What votes of his have you liked? The only SC case I have been following much is the sales tax for online purchases, which I have mixed feelings on due to the difficulties collecting sales tax over so many different jurisdictions. But I still probably lean to the side of Gorsuch, Kennedy, Ginsburg, and Thomas that they should be collected to even the playing field with brick and mortars as much as I love not paying tax from out of state online purchases (it sounds like Roberts could be the swing vote).
I mean he's a conservative so not many but from reading about him he doesn't seem like a biased goober and he will stand up to Trump. The next nominee could honestly be someone like Ted Cruz or someone similar to Jeff Sessions honestly or some other culture warrior. I would honestly expect a very Trumpy pick next time
