I kinda knew this was going to be the Grizzlies play, to blame the refs....it's so much easier than admitting you aren't talented enough to win the series.
I think the Grizzlies think what they did was play the same physical game as Spurs but not get calls...unfortunately they don't know the difference in playing physical and making illegal contact. Making contact defending a shot, and pushing people with two hands...different.
I did think Kawhi got some calls tonight, but come on it's about time a Spur gets that privilege after all these years....but seriously the difference in the game was who made their shots, not the refs.
oh he'll get fined. He accused the refs "rooking" him. It should be one of the bigger fines ever for ref criticism, especially with the bravado he said it all with.
I'm just happy we have our loud chest beater Kawhi to get us all those phantom calls. Who knows where we'd be?
He'll get fined. I don't know how much these guys care about a $5K or $10K fine. It may even have been a good investment.

The thing is, he tried actually saying classy people don't complain (implying they were classy) then exploded about how unfair the refs were when his team missed plenty of good looks. He's trying to give his team something to fight for...they've got nothing else.

Memphis gets away with a ton of contact historically. But without Allen, they couldn't legitimately defend Kawhi. Gasol and Conley are their only plus defenders. I'm sure JaMychal is fine against some fours, but he can't guard LMA or Kawhi. like that took up a ton of fouls that got SA into the bonus early.
I just saw a replay of my favorite play of the game. Near the end, Pennis was out grabbing and slapping at Kawhi on the perimeter. Kawhi finally got sick of it and blew past Pennis, Randolph, and Gasol and flushed it.
Maybe Fizzdale should talk to his players about that play, right after they talk about all the bad calls.

I recall Jeff Van Gundy getting fined something like 200K. That's the biggest one I recall. Anyone remember that one? What was in for? I think he was coaching in Houston at the time.
I'd hope Fizdale's fine is more than 10K. That's chump change. They need to be fined an amount where it will make them think twice about doing it again. I think I remember Jeff saying his wife was mad at him about the fine when he got that big one.

Van Gundy was fined $100k in the 2005 playoffs first round after the Mavs kept getting all the calls and Yao was in foul trouble all series.

One thing I find interesting is how much unanimous hatred the Spurs have on a basketball forum such as realgm. I'm started to believe most of this bias against the Spurs is rooted in jealousy and frustration about how the Spurs have been great for very long time. This was the year a lot of casual dumb ass fans thought the Spurs were not going to be an elite team due to Duncan's retirement.
