Sad that I can't even pretend to disagree.LaMarcus Aldridge has had enough of this Memphis Grizzlies series. Throughout it Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph have made Aldridge look like their kid brother by pushing him around the paint.
Yes, they were literally pushing him. With two hands. It's supposed to be illegal. But it, because refs can't possibly be expected to blow a whistle if they have to hear the terribly overused "Refs you suck" chant or see Fiz do his best rodeo clown impression.
This media narrative is so wrong though - Aldridge shot better than Gasol and ZBo combined did, played better defense than either of them and the Spurs destroyed them on the glass throughout the series. If refs were calling the pushing and shoving it'd have been a quick series.
They were also hand-checking Kawhi on the perimeter.
Still blaming the refs.
. What a joke of a fan base. Sore losers.
Says the dude that thinks fans are responsible for what players do on the court.
Whay are you talking about?
Not sure if sore "losers" really applies in this case since we won. Maybe sore winners?
My takeaway is that this team is mentally tougher from top to bottom than we thought.
The takeaway is the series. We took it away.
It's more defending our guy from an unfair mischaraterization. LMA had a great all around series. He was clearly better than Z Bo in almost every game and he battled with all star Gasol, giving up weight and size, and was solid against him. In this lamer version of "good series" people act like he didn't play well because he didn't average a triple double. I believe LMA won the dunk war against both, which used to be ESPN's only qualification for playing well. And while the refs were eh, that's what you have to deal with to win.
Doesnt matter if I expected that an offensive talent like LMA, 14.8 ppg in the series, outscoring Marc Gasol, 19.3 ppg...I'm more worried about other things.
Grizz overperforming? Or Spurs' defense isn't as good as we think?
Conley looking like CP3, Ennis shooting like Klay, 40-years-old Carter outplaying our guards...
If almost all Memphis shot that well against the Spurs I can't imagine a successful series against better shooters like Gordon, Anderson, Harden, Williams...
Well i think the Spurs plan against Memphis was that they weren´t going to beat them inside, and dared a challenged 3pt shooting team to beat them from there.
Memphis took note and game planned to win by shooting more threes than they usually do, and still lost, but improved their percentages a lot.
Now we face a team who scores mostly on 3´s and FT (incredible), so i think we are going to try to take away that, and dare them to beat us off the dribble and inside.
I agree, other than game 4 where i think he rebounded very bad and that was one of the reasons we lost, i think LMA accomplished what the team asked from him, was the main big against a tough frontcourt and managed to get points the hard way, also, the refs after game 2 choose to change the officialiting to a 1980 style of play, and allowed a lot more contact inside than is usually allowed. That benefited Gasol and Randolph more than LMA, and he still hold his ground.
If you think LMA had a bad series, go watch how Pau Gasol played........
Sounds right. Good point.
So Spurs will defend the 3-point shots but let Rockets beat them off dribble and Harden P&Rs? That doesnt seem a winning formula. Now we face a team who scores mostly on 3´s and FT (incredible), so i think we are going to try to take away that, and dare them to beat us off the dribble and inside.
Edit. Well, it's not like the bigs to defense P&Rs with Pau playing more minutes than Dedmon...Worrisome.

I guess that the strategy will be the same as the Spurs always had for these teams, let the driver go in a direction where the designed help defender will be waiting.
The Spurs will of course play 3 quarters of horrible defense, but at least use it.
