This is what 80% of you fools wanted all regular season long so let's see how good the Spurs actually are without the head of the snake.

    Yes, I am just guessing.

And TP had been shockingly good in the post season, so yeah, it really sucks. Hopefully somebody else will emerge and contribute. Kawhi is incredible but he needs a little help.
    Hi Kori,

What does Timvp think about the way Kawhi has been playing? Does he think Kawhi can play PG for a chunk of the game/s going forward? I think we're asking too much of Kawhi, but he's going to have to do even more. I believe he can.

Spurs announce it: MRI reveals ruptured left quadriceps tendon for Tony Parker. He will miss the remainder of the playoffs.

If the Spurs by some miracle win it all this year, TP should be Finals MVP.

A lot of people are speculating MCL or ACL tear, but I think he might have torn his quad. Yes, I know that he was rubbing his knee.
Just a hunch? I know when the staff came out on the floor, he pointed at a spot just above his knee, so you could be right.

Well you were right. The pics are what he looked like in the air, and coming down. He already knew his leg couldn't take any weight, in the split second he was going up for that shot. And when the trainers came out, that's exactly the spot he was pointing at - so he must have felt it pop, which is nasty to even think about. People speculating about next year? I doubt it.

If he did tear acl, you'll think he retires?
No. He wants to play 4 more years. He will try to come back. I am convinced of it

If he goes through the rehab for this injury, at his age, and still wants to play 4 more years? Then he deserves to. I don't think we see him again as a player.

I hope he does make a comeback. But would prefer his time with the spurs to end when that contract expires at the end of next season. Dont mind him coming back on a low end contract but couldnt stomach a 1 year 14 million contract like manu. That would screw everything up cap wise next summer.

I feel bad as a fan. I turned on him a bit this year because I thought the writing on the wall was etched in stone. And then he pulls a rabbit out of the hat come playoff time and turns back the clock and starts balling. And then the quad happens.

shouldnt have written him off but so happy he hit a high gear in the playoffs. Props to tony and good luck with a comeback.

Sad day... Very sad. My hope is that Murray can gain some vet control, all of a sudden, and show this team he can be it's PG going forward. He could do it.
Otherwise things get quite complicated this off-season.

Yeah, I was hoping I wasn't right, but when timvp and I rewatched the play last night, we both thought it wasn't ACL/MCL and that it was his quad. The reason I thought that was because TP was perplexed when it happened - like people are when their Achilles gets torn... all of sudden their body is disconnected. I assume it was a horrible rupture.

I mean, he could conceivably be back by the All-Star break next year. But Tony has had quad issues on and off throughout his career, so sadly, we might not see him in uniform again. I know a lot of people hate him here, but he's given a lot to the organization and it's a sad way to see him go out.

I think he will play again but it makes you wonder if he will ever be the same player. Spurs will have to explore options of a trade or something if they want to stay an NBA le contender since he could be out to February of 2018. That could have been Parker's last game as a Spur.

If he retires, they can stretch his last year, and get some cap relief.

There's another angle I'm not sure of. If they keep him on the books, and he isn't able to come back, they can apply for a medical exception on the 1-year anniversary of his last game, and his salary gets removed from the cap picture. That wouldn't help them acquire another player for next season, because the season would basically be over. But... if they spend themselves into the lux tax acquiring players, could shedding his salary at the end of the season (from the medical exception) reduce their salary total enough to get them back under the lux tax threshold? That at least would save them a chunk of cash, and keep them from being repeat offenders on the tax.

At the very least, I think they could stretch his last year, and THEN apply for the medical exception this time next year, and avoid the cap hit for his second and third years of the stretch.

That's sort of callous, less than 24 hours after the injury, but the show must go on. Regardless of what "some people" think of Tony, he's had an incredible career here, and his number will be hanging in the rafter soon after he retires - as it should. I'm just looking at, "What will the Spurs do now?"

    At least it was quick.

Him slowly decaying on the team, with Pop emotionally unable to remove him from the equation, even knowingly it is for the best of the franchise, would be way worse.

Thanks for all the years. It was a great, great pleasure.
