Can u imagine the SL playing like it did today- the ball movement, the extra pass, the TEAM defense, LMAlpha, etc. etc...- then at the 5 min mark comes the reigning 2-time DPOY with an all-galaxy arsenal of offense to his game & ever-growing playmaking repertoire against other team's 2nd unit?? JUST WOWWWWWWW
Ever since we won in 2014 and Poop said "we need to put the ball in Kawhis hands now that he won finals mvp" we've been terrible.
2015 he was terrible against barnes and coudlnt play pick n roll
2016 ditto, we insisted on playing ISO kawhi bullcrap offense
Whenever we play without him we have energetic euro offense like in 2014, with mismatch exploitations, passing big men etc. Today was no different.
Why do we "need" to give the ball to kawhi? We were more than good in 2014 finals with him being 3&D, or cutting hard to the basket and focusing on his defense.
Would you bring him off the bench? What would be your rotation, tbh?
I already said, he would play like in 2013-14, just play D and shoot 3s or cut hard and rebound
The Spurs beautiful game of years past taught us that when the offense is spreading the wealth & there is no sticky hands (TP/2012-14, Kawhi/2015-present) on the team, the team has the ability to take it to another level that hardly no other team can match. Kawhi is a top 3 player, but a Kawhi(or TP or LMA)-centric offense will fail against teams that share the load on offense. Smart team-ball is the way to go in this offense
Tonight they played the Rockets, one of the worst defense in the West.
There was a reason why LMA, Simms, Patty, Danny, Manu didnt look that good vs a good defensive team like Memphis.

For the record, Kawhi wasn't irrelevant on offense in 2014 Finals...He was the Spurs leading scorer in 3 of 5 games. That was how they won.
