Well that's a sigh of relief knowing it's not anything serious granted it's not a given he comes back anytime soon.

What I figured. The fact he hasn't completely been ruled out for Game 2 makes me think he might end up playing; they prolly assumed he had at least some minor ligament damage. Really hope Pop has a fire lit under his ass ala 2014 after all this and acts like the GOAT coach he once was.

Great news. The focus should be getting Kawhi better and coming back to Oakland with a tied series.

isn't "structural damage" a torn ligament?

its ing sprained, everyone knows that. if it was torn he wouldt walk off the court
so basically the tweet means nothing.. we need to know the grade of the sprain

Pop said at the end of his rant (if you saw the full one) that Kawhi was out tomorrow.

At about 4:40 he says "We'll see what the MRI says, but obviously he won't play tomorrow." Now maybe the good news on the MRI changes that, but those were Pops words.

Dudes been coaching his ass off these playoffs lol

I hope he gets to that 2014 level too tho. I think he will after seeing how upset he was. It's up to our guys to follow suit

Man if the refs help the warriors so damn much and we won game 1, we'd really have a good shot in this series, instead we need all the luck in the world going forward

Iman Shumpert has no real sympathy. Zaza was just tying to win.
Leonard plays for the country Spurs. He's obviously not urban/hip hop enough for the hipsters..

Looking good that he plays game 3. Kerr owes it to Pop to do him a solid and tank game 2.

No matter what the MRI said, Kawhi's not playing tomorrow. It's the right thing to do. Let him "heal" till Saturday and give him a go. For now that ankle is xtra tender and will bend at anytime.

IMO he has a grade 2 sprain which is a partial tear

If it was grade 1 he could play game 2

If it was grade 3 he would be out for the series

Nah it's probably grade 1. "Partial tear" is a form of damage which can be detected by MRI. No structural damage indicates no tearing, maybe just bruising.

It looked less severe than his initial sprain against Houston, so not surprised...the only thing that worried me was that he tweaked it twice within one minute yesterday.

Most of the top sports doctors agree now that even many Grade 1's involve some micro-fissures in the ligament(s). And they pretty much agree that the best thing is getting enough rest to allow it to completely heal. Coming back off just a few days rest, and then "tweaking" the same ankle twice more in the span of a few minutes? I don't think many doctors would agree that it would be a good thing for him to come back and play tomorrow, regardless of what grade can be assigned.

Also, they have started grading sprains based on more than just ligament damage. These days they also do a more detailed work-up of mobility and weakness. That's because they've finally understood that it is very difficult to see those small tears.

I don't think that we can infer too much out of him sitting for the next game, except that he will be sitting for the next game. The Spurs aren't in any rush to reveal anything.

I think even the HOU one was minor. It's just the Spurs MO to be overcautious. That's why I think this talk of shutting him down bc it's a threat to the rest of his career is dumb. He's fine, it's a simple day-to-day injury. In the RS noone would even think twice about how it would affect his future. It's just bad luck (the first two atleast) that it happened at such an inopportune time, tbh.
