Pundits will try and downplay the loss of Kawhi but let's not forget that the dubs completely unraveled and choked a 3-1 lead when they lost Draymond in the Finals. He's nowhere near a Kawhi level player so it puts things in perspective.

We all would like to have hope, but anyone who truly expected anything else just wasn't being honest. Kawhi will make a couple games compe ive if he returns and they might win one, but ZaZa effectively ended the series. Warriors are not the Rockets.
I hope a couple players and the FO does some soul searching during the off season. There is no shame in losing to the Warriors without Kawhi, but they have been outscored by 53 points since Kawhi was taken out. That is tough to reconcile for a team that is supposed to be so well coached.

Oh and umm, I have been a Spurs fan for 25 years because of David Robinson, Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili, and now Kawhi, but if the Spurs can't get him a decent team around him that can compete for a Championship next season, then I wouldn't be opposed to him asking to go somewhere else. He deserves to be on a team that can contend.
That doesn't mean I'm giving up this season (I still think we can come back and tie it up), though, it's just that I'm thinking we'll lose players from the current team and might end up with a worse team next season due to a lack of money. Spurs should have signed Simmons to a 3 year deal.
It's one thing to play like on offense but they've been trash on defense as well and haven't played with a lot of effort. No chance at beating the Warriors like this.
