If you get a player and that player sucks what else can you do? dwert went from LA to HOU to ATL.
But LA and HOU don't have problems in landing great FAs, SAS is a whole different story.

Me? I would trade him. Spurs? Who knows if they already give up on LMA...

He still played the same. He's just getting doubled/tripled more.
He did this in game 6 against houston last week. This is houston, not GSW. Different levels of defense.

He had no problems when TD was there, I guess he is not ¨real deal¨material, the kind of player that makes things like championships happen.
He played harder when TD was here. TD had that influence on him. TD also had the ability of making it easier to incorporate guys within the system. Your probably right about him not being a championship material type of player but unfortunately they are not many bigs out there that are in this league.

he's definitely not playing like a star.
I don't know if it's his not getting in good shape, being past his prime or just wanting to leave his "alpha" days behind and coattail Kawhi or what.
I think it is a combination. I think he has both a game and a BBIQ that are not compatible with the Spurs' system. I think he is probably as intimidated by Pop as the local press, despite the fact that Pop seems to take it pretty easy on him. As a consequence, it seems like he probably doesn't have a very genuine relationship with Pop. And ultimately I think that the Spurs' heritage and mystique simply overwhelm the guy.

Personally, I really don't care what the issue is; I just want him and his contract gone.

yup, if the team was cutting, playing with purpose and hitting shots after the Dubs doubled LMA he would have looked better. Hopefully they will come out at home and hit some shots and get some confidence back.

Also they were doing Pop strategies like doubling on the catch, then on the dribble, then single covering, switching, just changing it up a lot.

They all sucked except for Simmons! Dedman played hard was rusty but he needs more playing time as well as Bertans! Spurs usually respond after a humiliating loss especially aftervwatching those arrogant assholes so I expect Spurs to win at home & beat these ers! When they got their asses handed to them when Houston rained down threes I expect the Spurs to regroup & win! LMA will go for 40 & rest of team will be in double figures! Spurs in 6!

That is exactly what I thought. and in hindsight Pop even took it easy on Lamarcus bc he said "they ALL" came in with a kind of belief that they didn't have a chance and it was foregone conclusion they would lose. He only spoke about Jon and Aldridge when asked specifically about them. His initial speech was about the entire team not believing.
Pop also dodged the question about leadership, which clearly applied to the lone, uninjured "star" on the floor.

Rightfully so!!! LMA should be ashamed of himself.........but he's not!
Don't worry, he took Bowens number for good luck......so we got that going for us.

giving him #12 was the biggest mistake ...
I didn't like that decision at the time, and it looks even worse now. "Un-retiring" a number made the Spurs look look like wannabes instead of the dominant, proud franchise they are. Compromising the integrity of the organization's tradition for LMA in particular really is irritating. LMA should hand the jersey back, offer an apology and choose another number to soil for the remainder of his (hopefully brief) time here.

Look at this video of Aldridge from 3 years ago and tell me he hasn't quit on the Spurs. Seriously.

That's who the Spurs thought they were getting. Not the soft, mentally-weak garbage wearing # 12.
You know what's missing from those clips? Defense. Hard defense for every minute youre on the court. Takes the legs away. Makes them weak. That's why you can't come into camp like a fat ass. That's why at this age you have to start taking care of your body like Tim did. It's physically demanding and requires discipline to play here. But if your here, it's because you want to win championships. And if you're not doing those things, then you don't want to win championships and you belong elsewhere.

That was probably his best game ever, wasn't it? A lot of shots fell that night. What's missing now is him bullying his way into the paint.
Yeah. Highlights from a single game are not a good representation of his entire Portland career. He has had a big game or two for the Spurs, too. He seems like pretty much the same player to me.

I wish Pop had taken issue with LMA's shot selection rather than the number of shots. He passed up some open face-up jumpers, but he didn't pass up enough of those damn fade-always.

Those truths seemed to be self-evident for about a quarter century. Then the Spurs signed LMA. I hope PATFO reaffirms those truths this summer and moves LMA to some bottom feeder where he can jack-up fade-aways to his heart's content and never get a whiff of a WCF again.

I just think its better to get rid of something that doesnt work than having a negative passive POS on the team.
FA never cared about SA anyway.

Why FAKE NEWS, mods??? People posted the video of Pop calling LMA out with being "timid" "turned down shots" in this thread.

And who, pray tell, was responsible for identifying these model players for his system and signing them?

Dude needs to look in the mirror if he's going to continue to trot out LaBeta and Gasoft with Dedmon and Bertans riding the pine.
He has always been the type of coach that will ride or die with veterans. That mentality has won him 5 championships, but it has lost him plenty of series too.

I'm not sure what everyone was expecting without Kawhi and too a far, far lesser extent Tony?

    good take raybies.

    I have missed you friend.
You show up just in the nick of time with the draft lottery given to teams tonight lol

I kind of agree, but I think Pau is holding the team down. I like Lamarcus the roleplayer but he's obviously no star right now. JSimms needs to get paid and he deserves it. Tony is questionable, Manu is retiring and really needs to retire. etc. Even if they wanted to keep this crew together this had the makings of a one hit wonder.
Yeah unfortunately I watched a lot less ball this year due to learning and practice with audio engineering etc. Hardly watched any college ball and didn't watch quite a few Spurs games. I guess I was disinterested but the playoffs have great and I have consumed a lot.

With that being said, ball handlers and playmaking guards should be at a premium this off season. You have to have players as versatile as possible in this NBA. With questions with Murray, and Mills and Simmons due for a raise I think you look for another wing with size that has some experience preferably and that can ball handle and playmake. But yeah I think you have to keep Simmons and Patty and to a lesser extent dedmon. I would highly consider trading Green which I assume has some value to a former Spurs coach cause Simmons is more versatile all around. I think you keep as much of the crew together as possible next year and you prepare for cap space in 2018 when we hopefully have an emerging Murray and can sign another elite scorer. I hope Aldridge realizes he isn't a max here going forward and I'm sure we aren't gonna give that to him. With his health concerns and playoffs melting value should be low. I wonder if PHX is still interested. Not really Spurs way but for 20 years it hasn't really been Spurs way to pay players to not perform imo

Who is the admin going around re ling threads "Fake News"? no one wants to be branded and semi-exiled like poor Testies but I contend that 98% of what is posted in ST is opinion instead of fact and that 98% of the thread on this site can be labeled 'fake news' from some posters honest opinion and all of the haters on the other side of the argument's opinion. The le says basically calls not ACTUALLY calls but this is a new era in the US so maybe I am just being slow to adjust.

Ok, point taken on the Rockets lack of D. I guess the scouting report on him is that tough double teams will take him out. End of story. He's a poor passer, slow to react to double teams and will turn the ball over when pressured.

You think you misunderstood me my friend. I was referring to there being no highlights of Aldridge playing defense. It's easier to score that well when you're half assing on defense. You can't half ass on defense in San Antonio. It's taking his legs from him that's why he always looks so tired. That's why he needs to stop coming into camp fat and start taking care of his body in the off season. He doesn't have to if he doesn't want to, but winning championships takes dedication. So far he's shown he ain't got it.

Just reference the work out story with him and Duncan.
