Last time I went out to Yosemite I flew out to LA and took the Greyhound up to Merced (from there you can catch the YARTS bus to Yosemite). After the trip I took the YARTS bus back to Merced and had a Taliban beard and was dirty as , carrying a giant pack on my back. I think the people at the In N Out I grabbed dinner at must have thought I was homeless. In fact as I was waiting for the bus back to LA some dude came and insisted I take a dinner from him. I just gave it to an actual homeless person who showed up later.

A couple of guys I was with got so tired and were so dirty they just laid down one afternoon. But it was really close to a trail but they did not know or care. When I came back upon them, some hikers had found them and were getting ready to poke them with sticks like they were dead. And this is exactly why everyone must do this. That picture will never ever leave my head. I got that card to pull anytime I need a really good internal smile. We looked so F'N ragged it was great when we got to a mirror. I looked so strange to myself. Bizzare.
I'd much rather drive PCH than hike pacific crest trail.

I also didn't vote. I said as much prior to the election. I didn't ever think Donald Trump wanted to be President, not seriously. I have a thread about it somewhere. Now he's there, he's not serious, but he's beginning to understand that he's no longer in a place where money can buy him out of it. He's digging a hole and him if he's buried in it.
I cannot believe in a country with 300 million people, half of them legal, that we cannot find two better candidates to square off in the presidential election than the wife of a former president who spent a year testifying to congress about her private email server when she was secretary of state and a reality TV guy who said on tape "I grab them by the pussy", and won.
I'm atheist but I don't spend all day in atheist debate rooms chasing christians down because I don't give a and I get just as annoyed at atheists as I do zealot religious idiots, both are idiots if they are zealous about it.
I've hunted and fished all over the country and in different parts of the world as well. I don't remember it being any more fun than taking my 5 year old grandson out at the local lake to catch sunfish or bowhunting a hill country deer. Different? Sure, and crazy and tiring. I do think topwater tuna around floating rigs is the best fishing there is, but I'm biased. I never cared for small bait sized trout on fly, but I'm not a purist. I'll use a med-heavy blank to pull a 4lb bass out of cover with 60lb braid before I use 4lb test to catch bonefish on the flats or tiny rainbow trout in a stream I can straddle in the middle of Montana. I won't turn down the opportunities for either though.
If I am not outside on the weekends its because it's too hot or thunderstorms or I am at an event. Sometimes I think watching a movie alone when you can be immersed in the movie without distractions is as good as traipsing through the woods with a backpack hoping to shoot a 160lb deer so you can spend hours dressing out an animal that doesn't taste that great to begin with. I think the cabin time at the end of the hunt where friends tell lies about their days and share video of things they didn't shoot, that's as big as the hunt. I am not a gear person when it comes to hunting, but I am when it comes to fishing. I hunt simple, I fish with NASA rated .
If someone put a gun to my head and said peg or dock, I'd probably refer them to one of the two in the thread who seem interested in it.

Pence at least seems like a decent, honorable guy and not an embarrassment in the way he carries himself. Plus he wouldn't appeal to the worst instincts of a lot of people like Trump does.

Personally I think that people my age don't listen to older people with real experience. I have learned so much from dragging info out of older, wiser people, from job to outdoors. Or from people who live it while you are working on something very different. You just have to figure out who is giving you BS v. the real deal. If they wander off the intended subject you gotta bring them back. Intelligence gathering... It can make for beautiful trips or help to decipher important stuff at work. Goal oriented people. Then you just turn that off in the outdoors when the surroundings dictate the action.
When one gets put in a basic situation that is very fluid and requires flexibility to have fun... that's great stuff. I have found people who need this. They are fun. Not the silly Survivor stuff on camera BS. You gotta get a feel when it's time to just sit and listen and take it all in. For me, this can be practiced best outdoors.

Honestly, I'm an atheist but I don't have a problem with Christians. My grandfather was a Christian republican and he's probably the guy I most respected and admired in my life. Seems stupid but at least if they're legit Christians like pence seems to be they have some sense of decency.
Most of the income of the country has gone to people vastly richer than you are, who control vastly more than you do. 400 families. This is easily proven.
The 1/2 that you think are "living off the production" pay all sorts of taxes other than income. Many work 2 or 3 jobs.
Giving the 400 families that control the wealth more money isn't going to help the economy.
It is simply a mathematical certainty that this trend will continue, and it isn't "socialism" that is doing it, it is simple free market capitalism and self-reinforcing cycles that are concentrating the wealth.
I am glad you are doing well, and hope you continue to do so. But even your wealth amounts to crumbs falling off the table when you stack it up against that 400 family oligarchy.
We have the least amount of socialism in the Western world, yet the poor in this country are almost certainly going to die just as poor as they were born. If the free market really worked the way you think it does in this country, that would not be the case.
I can't convince you of this truth here in this post, but encourage you to do a bit of reading. Forget the polemics and look to things that have as much data, and good data as you can find.

i dont have problems with christians unless they try to inject it into government, schools, etc... and mike pence is a guy that advocated congress should find ways to teach intelligent design aka creationism in science classes along with evolution because "its just a theory, not fact"
