San Antonio is not marketable. Curry and LeBron are way more vocal and active on social media, and thus cater to the younger generation. Kawhi doesn't do much in that regard and rarely speaks. They can't sell that.
In my opinion Even when SA has been at there best for the past 20 Yrs, they still haven't gotten the same hoopRaw the GSW haven't gotten the last 3 yrs.. Or Cleveland for that matter.. At the peak of SA championships runs I don't think they got the love that GSW gets.. Thoughts. Please don't use the "small Market" excuse I have never believed that..

I prefer the Spurs not be d out on ESPN....if that's what you want go root for CLE.
I honestly think they have gotten respect. As time passes you will hear less and less about how successful the franchise was though. Its all about the new blood. Hardly anyone talks about the 90's Lakeshow or the Bulls run anymore. But, that being said, I remember after the 2014 championship........ the Spurs were called "Beautiful Basketball" That right there is respect.![]()
This. Being like Lebron or Curry is very anti-spur.
Spurs are considered the gold standard of the NBA![]()
The Spurs can barely appeal to their own fatass fans in their own town, much less fans from across the country. It's just the way it is. DisnESPN and FS1 are ratings s, just look at the idiot troll analysts they hire....
We get the same treatment Trump gets from the media
Even when Pop went off on Pachulia. ESPN had a segment where they played back Pops 10 year old interview of his defense of Bowens similar move that injured some Knick. And the commentators were laughing at Pop for being such a got about it
No, the media got Trump elected. Rent-free coverage during the elections. They made that got into a thing by talking about his senile moments, rallies, campaign shakeups 24/7.
Media doesn't talk about SA unless it's negative.
Agree somewhat brah
They didnt help Trump. They despise him
But Media helped Shillary lose thou. By jumping on her ty bandwaggon and upseting regular sane americans
Spurs organization is the rodney dangerfield of the league. Warriors are andrew dice clay. Sadly, dice clay was more marketable. How is beyond logic really cause dangerfield's body of work is much more impressive.
Would the media have given Obama a pass for having kids with the 3 women, bragging about sexual harrasment, running a campaign promise to send the caucasoids back, threatening to jail his opponent, hiding his Russian $$$ on his tax forms, lying every 2 sentences in the debates, having the vocabulary of a 4th grader, tweeting about Hollywood actors, etc
Nope. Media went soft on the Cuckald, sadly.
Imagine what would have happened if they treated him the same way they did with Obama, who got criticized by the media and inbred right wingers for wearing a tan suit

From their perspective, "respect" is directly correlated with ratings, controversies and product endorsements. No thanks.
Spurs get a ton of respect, tbh..there's a difference between marketability/hype and respect..
Pop and RC get free passes for any bad move they make, due to body of work..every time any random Spur player has a nice run, there's the "they did it again" narrative..people have even considered these Spurs contenders the past 2 years, despite not actually being anything more than a darkhorse..
Warriors and Cavs receive more "hype" for obvious reasons..ratings monsters, entertaining players and style of play..Spurs have always been ratings poison, of course..

Whaaah, no respect !
Go get a cookie and suck your thumb or be a real spurs fan.
BSPN does not represent the whole of America or even the media in its entirety. Those two fat bas s on TNT have plenty of respect for the Spurs.
I remember reading an article a couple years ago, before Silver became the commissioner and he mentioned how the league didn't do a good job marketing The Spurs. We have the best player in the world and they're still failing.
Social media was hardly even around back during the Spurs' run of dominance in the mid-2000s tbh.
This about sums it up. I used to buy into the "lack of respect" deal, but now I see it for what it is. Doesn't look the same as the Curry hype, but it works fine for me. And the more you see the Spurs on the front page of NBA.com, the more depressing it is when they lose, so I don't mind the low-key coverage.
I don't care about the type of respect the media gives GSW and Cleveland when they hype them up 24/7. What do I care about is the disrespect they throw at the Spurs. The way they covered the Kawhi injury is the best example of disrespect. There has been a bunch of talking heads that literally have said Kawhi deserved to get injured based on dirty play that Bruce Bowen got away with about 10 years ago. Take a pause for a minute and think about how asinine this claim is to say that a franchise player deserves to get injured based on the dirty play of former player that the franchise player never played with. To add insult to injury the media felt Zaza is not a dirty player despite having a do ented history of being dirty such as being 1 among current players with flagrant fouls. The media went further to double down on that belief when they felt Zaza should not be suspended which is terrible because it sets a precedent that it's ok to go open season on Spur players. No way would they disrespect Curry,Lebron Durant and their teams if those players were in the same situation as Kawhi. I guarantee if Zaza took out those guys out he gets suspended.
There was one game this season where Warriors lost, and ESPN just showed Warriors highlights.
http://www.espn.com.au/nba/recap?gameId=400900169
Those players have more league's respect than one of the best coaches in NBA history.
LBJ said Dray was dirty...Dray got suspended one game.
Pop said Zaza was dirty...Pop is just a hypocrite
Doesn't matter if Kawhi's the best NBA defender but also a class player who doesn't need to hit other players in their nuts to guard them...
Doesn't matter if Kawhi isn't a trash talker or never got a tech in regular season...
Doesn't matter if Kawhi was just 10 years ago in Bruce' best years..
"Karma. He deserved it for Bowen"
** This is a prime example of what I was meaning... Spurs win big games, and if you want to watch ESPN highlights and covered of your teams win, they show more highlights of the Warriors play, than the winning teams highlights that's the aspect of this whole thing I do not get.
Another example of this is GM#6 of Spurs vs Rockets, it was all about what harden didn't do as suppose to what the SPURS did.. ESPN and all other major media outlets had nothing but Rockets"Harden" highlights or lowlights, but It was rockets plays more than SPURS highlights..
I was Born and raised here in SA, so yeah I want to see this team get more love and Have this city represented across the country.
The whole Bruce Bowen history really came back and bit the Spurs in the backside.
Even though it's an undeniable and relevant point on pachulia injuring the Spurs best player, the media was quick to dismiss it by bringing up Bruce.
Not to mention Bowen hurting the Vincent Carter and ray Allens of the world isn't equatable to arguably a top 5 player on the 2nd best team in the WCF with said player and team up 23 pts in the 3rd Qt.
