Spurs should be calling about willie reed. Has a 1m PO with Heat which he'll surely decline. Will be cheaper than Dedmon.
Not sure how reliable this is. But sharing for what it's worth.
Source is a Facebook page called San Antonio Spurs Talk.[Dedmon] had a falling out with Pop due to multiple altercations with players (like with Nene back in game 1 vs Houston and Gasol in game 3 with Memphis) and altercations with the staff and his teammates. I can't say that's the only reason for it, but that's why he's been benched

Aka pop is a soft got.
Makes sense...

good for him!
Too limited for the Spurs (IQ, technique...) anyway...
Too bad. Could have used his toughness. Too many marshmallow players is why they got swept.
I don't know if it's true, but based on Pop's reaction to Bertans getting in that one little scuffle, it sure as could be. Bertans had been putting in some good minutes, and he just got disappeared after that. The funny thing is that it was Dedmon that was in the wrestling match, and Bertans came over to show that he had Dedmon's back. There's no doubt that Bertans wound up in Pop's house over that incident. (Worse than the doghouse.) It makes sense that he would treat Dedmon the same way.
I don't always agree with all the Pop criticism. But you can't talk about your team being soft, and turn around and punish the ones that won't let themselves be pushed around. Not to that extent. When it happened I thought it was about time someone on the team showed some heart. And if Pop is saying that getting tossed from one game hurt the team, then what did holding him out of a whole bunch of games do to the team?
If that's really the issue, Dedmon should be looking for someplace else to play.
If we endup signing CP3 this off season, then we should keep Dedmon. Cp3 will spoon feed this guy and he will be a lot better.

Okay, but he was one of the best rim protectors in the NBA (too lazy to look up the stat) and the overall team defense went to in postseason without him.
And to make matter worse he was benched for the corpse of Pau Gasol and an immobile LaMarcus Aldridge. The team defense is going to hit a major, major nose dive next season without a mobile, rim protecting big man next season.
Either they'll need to draft (least favorable), sign (more favorable) or bring over Milutinov (might not be NBA ready) to fill the void. Or they could try to bring him back but that seems to be off the table, right now.
SMDH
Wow, if that really is why he was demoted and Bertans completely benched then, , it is time for Pop to call it quits.
That toughness is exactly what the team needs and lacks with Gasol and Aldridge as the main big men.
Hop in Marty! We've got a trip to 2008!
Dedmon can start if you have four solid perimeter threats with one of them being a PG that can distribute. He can rebound and protect the rim, run the floor. I'm all for signing him if they get the PG situation straight.
Yeah, that is true. After a game against Philadelphia where he had double digit points and rebounds, I remember Tony saying something like - what are you doing, Dewayne, we're trying to re-sign you. So yeah, there was definitely a point in the season where the Spurs wanted him back, and so did I. Not sure if all that has changed with the Spurs. As for me, I'm a little indifferent about it. I guess it depends on the amount of money.
Where did you get that from?
I thought I remembered a quote from Deadman to the effect that San Antonio (the city) was rather dull. But I searched through the threads where I thought I might find the quote and came up empty. So, perhaps I was mistaken.
Not exactly the mood of someone who burned his bridges..![]()

Exactly, Dedmon has all the phsysical tools to be the type of center today's NBA game demands. I would rather get rid of Pau, Aldridge and Lee before Dedmon, tbh.
CP3 would turn him into a mini-Deandre, tbh..

No lol, Deadman is a terrible screener and roller. Worst court awareness I've seen in awhile. Even Ayres got himself in good positions, just couldn't catch the ball or dunk.
Forget about getting a good Point Guard if we're spending $10M+/yr on this system player.
I just dont like how Pop continued to give him constant rotational minutes going into the playoffs. He knew this flaw and shoulda switched back to Gasol or Lee whom ended up playing alot. No chemistry is what pissed me off.
I oddly felt overly excited bout Deadmon much like I always seem to get when discussing athletic bigs' potentials for the past 15 yrs with the Spurs.. But they never seemed to get over those humps (i.e. Elson, Mahimmi). Maybe its bc I got tired of seeing Timmy paired with smaller front court starters and he always took the wear and tear.
I agree with this man!
