REMAINING COUNTRIES ON TRUMP’S ITINERARY SAY THEY’D RATHER WAIT A MONTH AND MEET WITH NEXT PRESIDENT
BRUSSELS — Donald J. Trump’s foreign trip hit a snag on Tuesday, when the remaining countries on his itinerary announced that they would rather “wait a month” and meet with the next President instead.
“It makes no sense for us to roll out the red carpet for Trump when there is going to be a completely different guy in the White House in a month,” Hendrik van der Valde, a travel minister for the Belgian government, said.
“We very much look forward to hosting the next U.S. President, be it Mike Pence or Paul Ryan or whoever.”
Citing the exorbitant costs of hosting a President, the Belgian said
it “would be insane” to spend such sums on someone who “only has a few weeks left” in office.
“When a President comes to your country, you have to feed not only him but a whole plane full of people that he brings,” the minister added.
“Jared Kushner, for example, eats a ton, and no one even knows what he does.”
nato ministers, who had been slated to meet with Trump in Brussels on Thursday, voted unanimously last night to reschedule the meeting for June to accommodate his replacement.
According to one nato minister,
“We don’t see why we should be speaking to Donald Trump when even Melania isn’t doing that.”

Trump found Holocaust museum 'amazing' — which has many people cringing
Trump’s tweet-like message in Yad Vashem’s guest book has sparked a new round of controversy.
“It is a great honor to be here with all of my friends,’’ he wrote. “So amazing and will NEVER FORGET!”
Many critics found that the words rang adolescent.

This is part of what Trump capitalized on in the election. He comes across as a dolt in sensitive situations to the uber sophisticated liberal. The hard working white guy, like our friend Chris, sees the above and is pissed. So Trump was moved by the museum, but Obama has a much deeper understanding... I'm more compassionate and worldly than you, nah, nah neh nah nah. This did not fly last election. The Republicans make fun of the free IPhones the less informed Democratic voter expects, the Democrats use the Neanderthal image of blue collar white workers... Carryon. Godspeed.
Dem Reps Ask Deutsche Bank For Info On Trump Accounts, Ties To Russia
Democratic lawmakers on Wednesday asked Deutsche Bank for information on the accounts that President Donald Trump and members of his family hold at the bank.
In a letter to Deutsche Bank CEO John Cryan, Democratic members of Congress cited the bank’s “pattern of involvement in money laundering schemes with primarily Russian participation” and its “unconventional relationship” with Trump.
Deutsche Bank is one of the few major banks that has continued to do business with Trump through multiple bankruptcy filings over nearly two decades.

Deutsche Bank fined for $10 billion Russian money-laundering scheme
The big fines keep coming for Deutsche Bank.
The giant German lender was hit with about $630 million in penalties on Tuesday over a $10 billion Russian money-laundering scheme that involved its Moscow, New York and London branches.
It follows a $7.2 billion settlement Deutsche Bank reached with the U.S. Department of Justice last month over toxic mortgage assets and the $2.5 billion it agreed to pay in 2015 over interest rate manipulation.
The latest fines penalize Deutsche Bank (DB)'s failure to deal with a stock-trading scheme that
enabled some of its clients in Russia to improperly move huge sums of money out of the country and into offshore accounts, according to regulators.
"The bank missed numerous opportunities to detect, investigate and stop the scheme due to extensive compliance failures, allowing the scheme to continue for years,"
the New York State Department of Financial Services said in a statement.
Deutsche Bank was fined $425 million by the New York agency and £163 million ($204 million) by the U.K. Financial Conduct Authority.

Does anyone want to stay at Trump’s Manhattan hotel anymore?
Business at Trump's hotel in the trendy neighborhood of SoHo is suffering — and layoffs are looming
Trump SoHo is in trouble. Five months into President Donald Trump’s polarizing presidency, the lower Manhattan hotel is experiencing a decline in corporate events, and hotel layoffs are coming.
At least in New York City, the Trump marquee is turning people away.
At its peak, one could spend $700 a night to stay at the five-star hotel, but now rooms have dropped to nearly half that—well below surrounding five-star hotels in the area, and even bordering the four-star hotel price range.
Koi, the restaurant that was located on the ground floor of Trump SoHo has closed, citing a decline in business, and the election of Trump as the turning point.

Ethics office writes back to Trash to say You Very Much, now get your ethics together
On Monday, reports continued to surface that the White House was telling the Office of Government Ethics to “back off” and stop trying to find out about the many super-dubious swamp people Trump et al are hiring.
The ethics agency was created after Watergate ( Repug Watergate! again!)
The unusual nature of your letter highlights OGE's responsibility to lead the executive branch ethics program with independence, free from political pressure.
Accordingly, OGE declines your request to suspend its ethics inquiry and reiterates its expectation that agencies will fully comply with its directive by June 1, 2017.

Trump Organization Reportedly Not Tracking Foreign Donations
The Trump Organization has not been tracking donations and income generated by foreign en ies,
The revelation poses significant implications given the president’s campaign promise to donate foreign profits to the treasure if elected.
“He is going to voluntarily donate all profits from foreign government payments made to his hotels to the U.S. Treasury,” Trump lawyer, Sheri Dillon said in January, Time reported. “This way it is the American people who profit.”
the Trump Organization does not “attempt to identify individual travelers who have not specifically identified themselves as being a representative of a foreign government en y,”
“To attempt to individually track and distinctly attribute certain business-related costs as specifically identifiable to a particular customer group is not practical.”
Dillon dismissed suggestions that foreign donations to Trump violated the Cons ution’s Emoluments Clause, a bevy of legal experts have not been as certain. There is presently an open federal lawsuit against Trump for violating the clause.

BUSTED: Mar-A-Lago employee and convict’s wife working for Trump during overseas junket
According to BuzzFeed News, the reception manager at President Donald Trump’s “Winter White House” of Mar-A-Lago is working logistics on the European leg of the president’s first overseas trip.
The manager, Heather Rinkus, has reportedly also been given a government-issued Blackberry and email. The report noted that neither the White House nor the Trump Organization responded to questions about whether Rinkus’ trip is being paid for by the White House or Mar-A-Lago.
Rinkus is married to two-time convicted felon Ari Rinkus, who has reportedly bragged about his wife’s access to the president. Ari Rinkus is currently on probation for his role in a Ponzi scheme.
Heather Rinkus reportedly began working at Mar-A-Lago in 2015, and
prior to that, worked for Amway Hotel Corporation, which is owned by the family of Education Secretary Betsy DeVos.

Tourism Down 16 Percent Since Trump’s Election

‘Painful to watch’: Andrea Mitc and Kelly O’Donnell torch Trump’s ‘scolding’ of NATO allies
President Donald Trump drew widespread criticism from foreign policy experts on Thursday when he delivered a speech at NATO headquarters in which
he slammed our allies for not spending enough on defense, while also
neglecting to endorse Article 5, which outlines the principles of collective defense.
MSNBC’s Andrea Mitc reacted to Trump’s speech with shock by noting that Trump showed obvious contempt for our allies in Europe — and she said she had a hard time watching him.
“This was, by all accounts, watching it, just painful to watch,” she said.
“This was his debut at NATO and they were really angry.”
NBC News reporter Kelly O’Donnell noted that stark contrast between how graciously Trump behaved during his stay in Saudi Arabia versus how he behaved while in Brussels.
Mitc also noted that NATO’s Article 5 has only been invoked once — when all NATO nations came together to help the United States retaliate after the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Voters nervous about Trump controversies: poll
The investigation into President Donald Trump's ties to Russia—and the recent bombs news reports on the subject—have left most American voters feeling nervous, according to a new poll released Thursday.
A majority of registered voters, 55 percent, said that controversies surrounding Trump "were making them nervous about the future of the country,"
83 percent of Democrats saying they felt nervous about the future of the country, compared with 27 percent of Republicans. Forty percent of voters overall, and 62 percent of Democrats, said the Trump controversies left them feeling anxiety. Forty-three percent of voters said they worried about the future of their families.
Nerves and anxiety seem to be the defining feature of the Trump presidency for many Americans. Asked to describe which words accurately described their overall feeling about the U.S. moving forward, 53 percent said nervous, 49 percent said anxious and 43 percent said scared.
Trump's many controversies have cast a shadow over his brief tenure in the White House, especially those surrounding his advisers' alleged ties to and contact with Russia
the Russia-related stories aren't the only Trump's controversies that could be making Americans nervous. Morning Consult cited, for instance, "potential conflicts of interest regarding the Trump Organization."

Belgians to Donald Trump: ‘We love our hole’
Prominent Belgians have teamed up with a local newspaper to welcome Donald Trump to Brussels with a message: “We love our hole!”
The U.S. President, who said in a 2016 Fox News interview that Brussels residents were “living in a hole,” is in the city for meetings with EU, national and Nato leaders on Thursday.
The Belgian newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws gathered dozens of Belgian musicians, businesspeople and other figures for a special feature celebrating Brussels.
The participants wore “make America great again”-style red baseball caps reading “We love our hole.”

So the Belgians protest Trump. Do they protest when the Islamic terrorists blow up parts of their airport? I pity you your hole.
Don’t Forget: Trump Is Brazenly Lying about NATO
We just saw this embarrassing spectacle of President Trump not stating an unequivocal commitment to honoring Article 5 of the NATO Treaty, which requires all member state to defend another member state under attack. But Trump also returned to this issue of NATO members being behind on their payments and
owing the United States huge sums of money. This is simply false.
And it is a falsehood in the service of President Trump’s still not fully explained desire to undermine NATO.
There are two funding issues with NATO. A few years ago, NATO decided to require all member states to spend 2% of GDP on defense spending. The great majority of member states currently spend less than 2%. The ones who do meet that number are the US and a handful of states mainly on NATO’s eastern periphery. But they have until 2024 to reach that goal. So even on the terms of the agreement itself, they’re not behind.
But the key point is that these are not payments owed to the US. They are spending on each country’s own military.
There are lots of reasons for that, not least of which is keeping the alliance a real alliance and not one superpower military along with other armies which are either so small or have such low readiness that they don’t add to the force the US can bring to bear on its own.
The relevant point is that that this is a relatively new agreement, which most of the key states are increasing spending to meet – though some faster than others. They’re not behind schedule. They have until 2024.
Separately there are direct contributions from each member state to NATO’s joint operations, costs of the specifically NATO activities etc. – a bit under $1.5 billion. The US pays by far the largest share of that. But that’s because the contributions are based on a formula that broadly tracks national wealth. The US pays 22%, Germany pays 14.6%, France 10.6%, Britain 9.84%. So it’s judged on the basis of ability to pay.
