Well it'll depend on the ratings/interes of the casual fan....the league may never see a consistent dominance like this and that could a good or bad thing..but if people keep watching the ass kickings then yeah that's a different story
They won't. The media always kisses the hype machines asses in this league and these particular ones are known for being media friendly and have a coach who used to be a broadcaster and is buddies with a lot of them.
The James detractors will point to his 3-5 Finals record as supposed proof of his inferiority, but Jordan never played a single team in the Finals as good as 6 of the 8 (Spurs and Warriors) James has.

What margin of victory do the Dubs need to average to break the Spurs record over the Heat from 2014 for total Finals series margin? Want to keep that.
14.5 points in the 2014 finals.
Cheers.
Frankly, they may get it. Depends on if Cavs have any fight at home or if they're already planning vacation.
Would look bad for GOAT-candidate LeBron if he's on the losing end of the two greatest series beatdowns in Finals history.
I really hope they don't get that record. Would like that Record to stand to show how special that 2014 team was.
Need LeBron and the Cavs to not roll over and play dead at home in games three and four.
Durant's real opponent for the remaining finals games is not LeBron or any other Cav. It's Curry. If KD wins the Finals MVP its the perfect antidote to the "coattails" argument...i.e that he got there on the coattails of the 70 win stacked team that beat him the year before.
Critic: "Hey, Kevin, you coattailed your way to a ring."
KD: "Who was the most valuable in the Finals?"
Critic: "You."
KD: "Can't call it riding the coattails if you're the MVP."
True or not, that kills that narrative to a large degree.
If Curry wins it though, the coattail narrative continues somewhat. People will remember that Curry was MVP and Durant joined his team, no matter how well KD performed. And Curry wants FMVP as he didn't get it in 2015. And there has been some criticism that he doesn't show up in the Finals. He'd like that trophy as much as KD.
Curry vs. Durant is the real contest going on here even if the two will never admit it.
Both in the explosive chucking 3 pts shooting era.
The league needs to bring the big men back. They nerfed the bigs and protected shooters and this what you get.
The league will pull some liberal and give them "Co-FMVP"
I agree. The product has become kind of a carnival arcade game on steroids. Losing my interest to a large degree. Fortunately, watching Kawhi's prime will keep me tuning in.
Sad but possible. Let's hope not.
Durrant will get FMVP just cuz he's guarding an being guarded by Labron!!! I'm not a KD fan but he's doing his thang.. I mean It's easier to do your thang on the best team thou!!!
Dis me too
I also cosign with this! It's like playing a video game.. it's fun til everyone starts finding glitches on YouTube. But there's nuttin else to watch, so I keep watching.
What can the league do, though? They can't force Durant to leaveeven if they could, I don't think the players around the league would accept being patronized like that, anyways, would look pathetic..
Changing the length of the 3-point line is their only move, I suppose..maybe bring back handchecking, but then you'll revert to unwatchable basketball like the 90s and the 2004 Pistons-type teams..
Damn, ratings are upNBA is loving this..

Move strings under the table to help create another superteam to challenge the Warriors. Now that would be must see TV.
Come on now you can't honestly believe hand checking is boring considering your favorite player Draymond Green does it all the time.
Irving, Kawhi, Lebron, Gianis and Anthony Davis. Would that beat the Warriors? I'm not sure, tbh.
Yes, and it's not even close. Though I'd replace Irving with CP3 as he actually plays defense![]()
Yeah that sucks. There's nothing to be fixed bc the product is not broken in NBAs eyes. In fact, its quite the opposite.
As much as basketball fans hate it, nothing will change as long as ratings continue to be great. The average Joe loves the big names all on 1 team, the simplistic nature of run down and chuck up a 3, and the excitement of chest pounding, high stepping, mouth guard chewing players. Speaking of the 3 pt shot and the average joe, I can see someone who doesn't appreciate the intricacies of the game of basketball easily asking "why wouldn't they just come down and shoot a 3 each time, 3 points are better than 2".
Its the product the league is giving us and there isn't any reason for them to change it.
