They wouldn't have been playing the Warriors. They would have been playing the Thunder.
He could have easily bought him a minute there at the end of the third without killing the team since those last couple of possessions are played at a slow pace. Then try to steal a couple of possessions in the fourth. Now Lue was forced to pull James at a critical point with 9 minutes left during a GSW run. It's disaster because James probably won't be back until the 7:00 mark now while GS is hot.
