Just throwing it out there, CP3 IS the most closest to person to Lebron James in the league, closer than even Wade, throw in the fact it makes sense for Lebron to go out West to avoid the Finals losses (but at this point I am not sure if that matters. It might sound like a pipe dream but in Lebrons press conference it sounded like will try to figure out a way to get past the Warriors. This would not happen until 2018 but if the Spurs landed Paul now it would open the way for Lebron.
LeBron not likely to play in a small market.
Like Cleveland ?
Cleveland has all the major sports and he's from there. San Antonio is a small market that can only support basketball right now. I love SA, but we're small market. LeBron will only leave to go to a big city team.
I disagree. If LeBron is leaving Cleveland again, he'll go to best team that can get him a ring. He won't go to GSW, if Cavs aren't that team, Spurs will probably be next choice.
Not sure there's not a workaround or compromise to be had. I wouldn't doubt that at times in these finals that Lebron was wishing he had a guy like Kawhi (along with Green) to lock down Durant and Curry as well as a coach like Pop who could actually handle the business unlike that shill in front of his bench.
That's how I'm seeing it to an extent. Might he give Cleveland a another go or two first? Thus my fear is that SA won't be getting a nearly as dominant version of Lebron.
I don't believe the LA hype at all tbh..if he goes anywhere I can see Boston or SA. Boston has the most flexibility and assets while SA has the best player/coach. Lakers have too many holes to fill within a year or so to make a legit contender IMO
I think the move that happens this offseason is Melo somehow getting to Cleveland with Wade lurking in the back ground..
One thing you know about Lebron, he only wants to be on teams that can win championships and given the way GS is stacked he's going to have to pick and chose to stack the deck so he has a chance in the next 3-4 years. He's already bad mouthing his owner to make room for an exit from Cleveland.
CP is on his last legs and hes super injury prone as it is.
NO THANKS
develop murray, hes our future star pg
Ah, let the offseason posting officially begin.
I will agree with OP, I think if by some crazy odds CP does make his way to SA this summer it will only help the case for Lebron in 2018 free agency.
Whats with all the Lebron to Spurs predictions?![]()
knowing that LBJ is thirsty for the MJ comparisons and the only way to get there is more raaaannngggs, the only way to get those is to go to a team that can beat the Dubs, and that only team is apparently the Spurs.
Don't think Kawhi would be happy for his team to be usurped by the banana boat crew.
He stated "Who wouldn't want to play for GSW or SA *pause* or Cleveland"
Then the speculation he may be looking elsewhere in 18' possibly LA
And there's analysts like Jay Williams who've suggested it publicly etc...
So yeah even though it's pretty unrealistic..it's not like it came from nowhere
Pretty much the Spurs are the only safe team that's a contender that he can leave Cleveland and go to. PR wise if he went back to Miami it would be bad, Golden State it would be really, really bad, Clippers bad. Spurs have a HOF coach he'd love to play for and one of the best players in the league, it's the only safe team for him to not receive bad PR if he were to leave the Cavs again. Only is possible if Spurs can sign CP3.
Not sure LeBron likes SA. Gives him cramps.
You mean a market that lost its NFL team (but got it back) and ranks 26th in the majors in attendance despite being in extra innings of game 7 of the World Series last year?
I think the small market phenomenon of SA is less meaningful for an established guy but it's about the narrative of him ring chasing that could be the detriment.
LeBron gives SA and Pop props all the time. I can see him saying that he wants a chance to play with the coach he thinks is the best one of his generation.
"Small Market" excuse for the Spurs no longer exist/has changed due social media etc and to the success of the franchise. Back when the Spurs whiffed on Kidd or other "Big FA's" the Spurs didn't have the ultimate respect across the league..especially Pop. The Spurs/Lakers then and now comparisons are really ironic on how over time things have changed.
