Kawhi should demand a trade if they essentially run it back by overpaying the same roster..
Damn...Here's hoping there are more suckers lined up to take him far, far away.

Theres still value adding Patty. Theyll have a lot of space the next few years, while their core are under their rookie salaries. Patty still makes sense.
He does remind me of Patty but more of a natural PG. He wouldn't be a bad 3rd PG next season.
His shooting alone is enough of a reason to bring him back, if the Spurs bring back Simmons, and Hanga and lose Manu, there is going to be a lot of questionable shooters on the perimeter.
If they can get Juwan Evans (if he's still on the board) he's much better than handing money to Mills. Far better playmaker, bends the defense, probably will be as good of a shooter, bigger by wingspan, better defender, cheaper.
It looks like Manu is leaning towards coming back.
Plus, they are very high on Bryn and Bertans -- who are great shooters that are capable of being NBA role players off the bench for a lot of NBA teams. Both should get more minutes next year and have a bigger role. Why pay 40-50 million on Patty when you have players like Murray and Forbes making nothing? It's not just that theya re making nothing, but they both proved in their rookie year that they are more than capable of having a bigger workload than last year. Add in another summer of workouts and they'll be even better than last year. The only value I see in paying Patty is paying for his character and his "Spurs-like" culture. Everything else he brings is redundant w/ Forbes moving forward. If they intend to keep Parker, paying Mills his market value makes zero sense -- especially with Murray and Forbes just needing minutes.
He'll get a rich offer. Still teams that need PG help but don't want to pay George hill money. I think he'd be awesome on a Wolves or Bucks team.
I disagree completely, I don't think Forbes has shown nearly enough to even remotely suggest that he can be a 1/3 of what Mills has been this past season. Forbes is closer to being out of the league than a NBA rotation player, not really sure why you think he would be a rotation player on every NBA team. Bertans, possibly could be but Forbes is very much a work in progress and I don't think he is a necessarily a PG. Mills isn't one either but he is closer to one than I think people give him credit.
I would rather the Spurs pick up a second second round pick and take Evans or Mason Jr. and have them be the replacement to Mills, though I am not in favor of letting Mills walk unless CP3 is coming. As Kevin Pelton noted, the Spurs could do something like giving Mills $13 million per over 3 years, that coincides with Murray coming off the rookie scale deal and Parker will probably be one year removed from the NBA. Murray is big enough to allow for Mills and him to play together in some lineups and Kawhi's continued improvement as a playmaker makes Mills value as an off ball shot maker all the more valuable, he shot a ridiculous 47% on corner 3's. Whenever Kawhi is running high screen p&r, Mills could spot up in the corner and teams would have to either stay handcuffed to him or risk getting burned.
I am in favor of Bertans becoming a rotation player, Spurs need high volume 3pt shooters; Green, Mills, Leonard, and Bertans all fit that mold and all are very accurate at it. Manu coming back would be a big help to the bench and also probably help both Murray and Mills in addition to Bertans.
Spurs will need to replace three point shooting of Mills leaves and that will be hard to do. Like when we lost Marco.
You're not the first to disagree with me and won't be the last. Forbes will likely split back up PG duties w/ a vet PG until TP get back. I know for a fact that Pop & SA sees Forbes as a combo guard like Mills and like Neal. He will compete w/ whatever vet they bring in until TP gets back ( this is if they can't get CP and if Mills isn't re-signed). They are higher on Forbes than you are. You're basically implying he's not a NBA player -- Spurs love him.

Are you forgetting about Murray?
Of course not. I would never do such a thing. Murray will likely be the starting PG next year & for the future.
A guy who is unplayable against the Warriors should get zero dollars from the Spurs if they have a choice in the matter. There's already Gasol and injured Parker who won't be of any use against GS (unless Parker somehow comes back strong, doubtful though).
So, Murray is the "vet PG" that will split time with Forbes?
Mills is really, really bad at defense and is too short. Sure, he's a great shooter, but again you can't pay that much for someone that is a liability in other areas. He's a poor defender, can't run an offense, can't shoot that well off the dribble, doesn't have great court vision and doesn't get to the rack and finish.
You need more versatile players that are taller and can do other things besides catch and shoot. You cannot waste money on Mills.
Exactly! Even Danny Green is starting to be too limited to play against the Warriors. Spurs can't waste money on these types anymore. You get cheap replacements and then pay a bit more to try and get better players rather than overpaying for these role players.
Edit : If you can't get better players for a bit more money, still don't overpay the role players (unless it's a really good deal). Keep the cap flexibility for the following off-season.

No offense, but you highlight the truest statement in my post and laugh? Are you re ed?
This is how I know you're a main stream vanilla cuck.![]()
Patty Mills was locking up harden in Houston.![]()
Mills locked him up? So neither Kawhi nor Jonathon Simmons played the better defense against him?
Who's arguing that? MVPatty had harden on the ropes. I never said any other player didn't. You got.![]()
Yeah, I don't see it. I'm sure they're hoping Fultz can be Irving to Simmons' James. Not that Simmons will be James obviously, but just in terms of function. Plus, they'll have Bayless, who's similar to Mills, returning from wrist surgery and they still have McConnell for depth.
Wings, specifically a 3 and D shooting guard, is now their greatest need.
Agreed. Completely.
