This is the ultimate source of why I have come to believe Trump is compromised and it is what will ultimately bring Trump down. It is why you will never see his taxes unless he is forced to release them.
He has never faced this level of scrutiny before, and has likely been a bit careless and greedy.
The Russian government can best be described as mafia-driven with varying degrees of legitimacy. Putin is almost certainly among the top ten richest people, if not THE richest person in the world, and that is not a lucky accident.
Russia and its oligarchs are flush with cash, and that was in big demand during and after the financial crisis. Anyone with few scruples and a marked tendency to look the other way about how s my your business partners could find a lot of eager Russian money. The same could be said of the oligarchs dealings with Trump.
Once Trump started getting into bed with that money, they knew they had their hooks into him. I doubt they ever dreamed this idiot would someday get elected president. Blackmailing him because of these business dealings would be easy.

There is, literally, NOTHING that could come forward that could change their minds. Putin could admit it and they will still go along with whatever Trump says.
If Mueller and co. say no evidence of collusion, fair enough. If Trump releases tax returns and no evidence of Russian leverage, fair enough.
