Not even remotely comparable. LeGOAT is clearly superior. You can't say the same about the Kawhi/Donkey comparison on defense. Spurfan has a legit case for their guy.
its not that green is superior. i certainly think kawhi is a better defender. but spurfan has an odd urge to constantly on him and berate any of his accomplishments/skills beyond rationality just because there is a perception of him threatening kawhi's status as best defender

I think it's pretty normal and somewhat reasonable to react that way when Donkey has the hype machine parading him as the clear cut best defender in the world. You know since most Spur fans, you included, believe Kawhi is better.

There was no reasoning behind Kirby fans crying about LeBron.

i'm not calling the two parallels because in both cases the "other" guy is clearly better. i'm comparing them because the hate/downplaying is irrational

You can't call spurfan's hate irrational though. You have a legit gripe when Donkey is being paraded as the best.

So if Kawhi was on the Lakers, would you still be saying this? This er Draymond gets to push and shove people, yet Kawhi or Gobert don't get anywhere near the same leeway, and they're still better defenders. I wonder how good his defense would be if he had to play by the same rules? I remember a game against New Orleans last season where Anthony Davis had the ball and the Pelicans were down one, Green basically fouled him to get the ball back, but the refs didn't call anything. Davis was pissed. This clown gets way too much leeway.

I also don't recall Green shutting down either Lebron or Kyrie in the finals and Kawhi was on his way to 40 points in game one until that piece of Zaza stepped in.

Draymond is a great defender, has great hands and that gets overlooked easily because of his antics.

I didn't say he sucked ass, but I also don't think he's the best defender in the league. Take away his pushing and shoving and he goes down a notch IMO.

Yawn. He was robbed two years ago as well for DPOY.

Who cares if he was a Laker or not? I don't. The only DPOY we ever had was Coop (once) back in the '80s. Didn't stop us from winning rangs because other teams had better defenders.

Did you see the voting results? Wasn't even close.

Couple that with his 10 PPG on 40% shooting earning him an undisputed all-star nod and the hate is warranted imo. Great role player but also overrated af thanks to the hype machine, tbh.

i was pretty certain kawhi wasn't winning it this year. said for most of the season it would be between green and gobert.

kawhi's on/off, d-rating probably hurt him in the eyes of the voters... so im not surprised at all he didn't win it.

take a top 3 defensive player in the league who is also a versatile offensive player who led the team in assists, and yes that's a bona fide all star. i dont see the complaint there. i know you'll say getting assists is easy on a team like that, and thats true... but his assists were even higher last year before KD were there, and when you watch green, its not like he's an inept or even average passer who lucks out into assists because teammates bail him out. he's one of the best passers in the league at his size/position

Kwame is the man in San Antonio. Put him in Golden State he's a 3rd option at best. He's not getting KD's shots. He's not getting Chef's shots either. It's debatable if he gets more shots than Klay.

Green averaged 10/8/8 (basically a triple dub) as a 4th option to go along with lockdown defense. Kwame averaged 25/6/3 as #1 option, lockdown defender. Green is a better rebounder and passer (more well rounded). Best defender on the best defensive team. Give me Dr. Dray over Kwame.

I'm talking about the margin not the fact that he won it. As far as all-star mods go, he's a borderline guy (makes it every once in a while) not a yearly, undisputed selection.
