Everything got OP says, the opposite happens lmfao. Should've let hater start this thread
The only reason he'd take his option instead of the comfort of a long term deal is that the Clippers likely didn't want to give him the max. Now Houston can give him his money as they'll have his Bird rights.
He was never going to the Spurs, or anywhere else, for a discount.

Wonder if the spurs are looking at Teague at all. Havent heard much on him so far
Apparently the Clippers did not offer CP3 a fifth year on his deal -- basically telling him to leave.
no not really
"sources"
"Spurs more appealing"
"we will see where CP3 will sign"
clown
Also as others have mentionned I guess Clippers did not offer the max deal CP3 wanted, on a max deal offer he would have probably resigned with them.
so yeah coach you are the only one looking like an idiot![]()
..
Why is OP not pinked yet? Re just doubled down with Max Paddy thread..
You'd think he'd get the point when he spammed the Paddy is consistent take, right before he consistently the bed when he got promoted to the starting lineup.
WE GOT PAUL!!!!!
![]()
Oh was this the Paul they talked about opening space for?
Bump..
Already missing games with knee issues.
I'm not going to flip flop on my Paul-to-SA take, but the concerns and red flags that few of us have raised (fit, health) are legitimate and I'm now opportunistically rooting for them to grow after he shunned us for Houston.
I'll jump on that bandwagon once he shows consistency for about two weeks...
Reports: Houston Rockets' Chris Paul could be sidelined up to four weeks with knee injury

He should have taken det money from Ballmer..Spurs might have dodged a bullet when all is said and done-- hope so..
He did get that money from Ballmer iirc. He was signed (by the Clippers) then traded.
Nah, he opted in and was traded. He preserved his Bird rights by doing so, but opting out and re-upping would have been smarter if he stays injured like this.
It's a bone bruise lol....
Why Spurs fans so salty? Just shows how bad y'all truly wanted him
eh..I still would have wanted him, but those Spurs fans who didn't have legitimate reasons. CP3 health record is major red flag. The only 33 year-old in the entire league I would give something in the $150-200 million range guaranteed without hesitation is Lebron..
Which NBA team are you a fan of coach?
Is this a trick question? Spurs
Don't think anyone is salty right now but this is a good lesson for Spurfan and a reason why Spurs don't force things. It's like ballin and just letting your shots come in the flow of the offense, same thing with decision making. When you force things you put yourself in severe risk cause usually when you force things it comes at a higher cost, example Brooklyn with KG and Pierce. I know discipline is tough to stomach but PATFO is very wise with it's resources. Nobody has done a better job of recruiting bottom of the barrel players and identifying pieces that will fit the system.
A lot of people here will criticize their decisions and yeah it's a forum it's fine, but I think the PATFO at least deserves the benefit of the doubt. I mean the rep for this organization every time some scrub plays is like "here's the Spurs latest gem" etc.
Regardless if Paul plays most the games or not, that contract would be horrendous. I prefer this reality than mortgaging so much had we got Paul.
Well I respect the fact you'll admit you wanted him...
Not directing this comment at you but I've seen people credit this injury as justification for Paul not coming to SA..he has a bone bruise from a banged knee...that's somewhat of a freak injury.
The only justification needed is beating the Rockets again in the playoffs..
Also that contract would be bad. He's Chris Paul. Spurs fans wouldn't complain about seeing empty seats at AT&T if he was hear. The buzz around the Spurs would be incredible and don't think for a second they wouldn't be considered by the media and everyone else that Spurs are biggest threat to GSW. If Paul signed the Kawhi injury wouldn't be ignored etc.
From a purely basketball perspective any true basketball talking head new Paul going to SA was huge..
