Even talking to Gay and his agent is a mistake of ridiculous stature.

The guy is in his 30s and blew his achilles.

Wes Matthews and Kobe came back and in their first seasons back looked like wet burlap sacks full of chopped off feet.

And that's not even getting into his crap iso game.

I don't expect this to get resolved tonight. Then again, I didn't expect PATFO to pursue RUDY GAY. I hope signing him didn't signal JSimms' departure.
More likely than not due diligence... they already know what JSimms wants and they think it's too much or we would have heard of him signing like we did with mills. They may match up to a degree...

We should just start a 2018 offseason thread already.

I think snell is a slightly less better offensive player but a substantially better defender, making him the better overall player (who's younger too). Snell is making marginally less than Patty is on their respective new deals. I don't think Snell is a reason for Patty to get paid more.

Frankly, I thought the FO should have moved on from patty. He doesn't move the needle for this team so why commit more money long term?

I don't see why you have to move LMA. If he's truly disgruntled why does he take his player option? Either he declines and is a de facto expiring or is not and has value that can be traded. Both preserve 2018. But regardless, you have other 2018 contracts coming off the books, which is all the more reason not to throw more long term money at mediocre players like patty
Like I said, they main reason they're keeping Patty is for "The Culture". It's nothing to do with on the Basketball court. This could lose them Kawhi in a hurry.

LMA plays a ton of five. His disdain for it is massively overrated. Anyway, what's he going to do if he doesn't like it, leave in free agency? People thinking that he's going to pout or be a locker-room issue forget his time in Portland. A player can be unhappy but still productive and on a winning team. They don't all become Jack.
Locker room cancers can't negatively affect teams? Look what happened when Stevie Jax became one with the team. At least back then we had the Big 3 as real leaders but now, Kawhi doesn't have that commanding leadership while Manu might retire and Tony won't be there all the time until he's healthy.

That's too low and I don't think that many years is possible. I'd be ecstatic if we got him for less than what Simmons is expected to make.

Wouldn't the Warriors also match that immediately?

Cris Felicio has had a career trajectory just about like Simmons. Undrafted SL invitee, two years as a backup, with moderate stats. Felicio has averaged just over 4 ppg, compared to just over 6 for Simmons. Not identical, but similar - with Simmons having the better looking numbers.

Felicio just signed a 4/$32M deal. Makes you wonder if someone is going to throw a poison pill deal at Simmons.

I hope kawhi boucher's momma is not paying attention to the spurs free agency news. If so, she may not let him play foosball in San Antonio anymore.

LMA hasn't been a locker-room cancer in his career. He's been disgruntled and by and large dealt with it in a way that let his team chug along. People have been reading way too much into the LMA situation since the WCF ended.

Spurs playing Hungry Hungry Hippos while the Worriers playing Battleship tbh. Shaun 8/yr vs Pity for 12.5/yr? C'mon.
Pity gets owned in the playoffs by Livingston... owning is putting it mildly...
