I've been questioning the FO since the 2007 off-season. I really wanted to reload that year, but the dumb s brought back the same team while other teams reloaded and passed them by.

Get the heck out of there, Kawhi. They need the ultimate lesson taught to them.
2008 all over again except we're not coming off a le run...

And how were they supposed to reload this year exactly? Contracts in the league are shorter, and you have guys being moved around with short term deals. Paul George might just be a rental for OKC. Player movement in the next 3-4 years will be at an all time high. Superstar players teaming up is becoming the norm. Spurs will lock Leonard up after 2 more years and keep building around him. The future looks great as long as he is healthy. Not worried.

I didn't want a point guard. I was OK with Murray starting and getting a veteran to back him up if one of the rookies couldn't do it. I wanted a guard/wing with size that could attack and play defense.

I think there is a 95 percent chance Kawhi will stay. Star players that have left their teams tend to be attention s who seek the spotlight ala Lebron,Durant, George. Kawhi is a highly introverted person and those types of people are not into going out and partying. I think that also factors in why I don't see him going to a big market like LA granted he did grow up there but I don't think it has the same type of allure for him that it has for PG due to his personality. I think now he's gotten use to being the number 1 guy that I can't see him going to another team and taking a lesser role which could be the case if he decides to leave. You have to factor in that Kawhi is not a vocal guy and that guys on a new team can challenge his status as the go to guy where in the spurs locker room due to POP's presence and Kawhi's history with the franchise it makes it impossible to challenge his status. Keep in mind when Lebron went back to Cleveland there was friction between Kyrie and him at the beginning on whose team it was. I doubt Kawhi would be able to handle that type of situation well and I feel Kawhi probably knows that which is another reason why I don't see him leaving. Introverts love stable environments and despise being in unstable environments. Like I have said before Kawhi is an introvert and I don't see him leaving unless the spurs become super unstable such as Pop leaving and replacing him with an inexperienced young coach or having a roster filled with a bunch of young talent less immature guys that have no character.

They are two other things the Spurs have going for them on why I think Kawhi will stay. The first thing they have is that Kawhi has already won a championship with them. Stars that have usually left their teams left because they had never won a le before and didn't want to possibly go their entire career without a ring. There is a strong possibility the spurs will be able to offer Kawhi the Super Max. Unless Kawhi get's injured it's safe to say he will make the All-NBA team and thus qualifying the Spurs to offer him the super max. I'm convince the Super Max is very powerful in getting players to stay with their teams. Just look at how Demarcus Cousins and his agent begged the Kings not to trade him simply because they didn't want to lose the Super Max. Demarcus hated playing for the Kings but wasn't willing to leave due to the money.

Exactly. My pipe dream (cheaper than most) was to somehow get Pat Beverley for Murray's safety net.

It's not his style and he hasn't helped matters by not playing high-school with other superstars and stars, but he needs to start applying pressure to the front office. I know they don't have much in the way of assets or flexibility (this is their fault), but every other top 8 team, outside of Celtics, who are loaded with assets at least, has anywhere from a second perimeter superstar to cut below All-Star player. He doesn't even have a starting PG, yet their answer to teams loading up appears to be locking in a significantly more expensive version of the majority of a roster that already wasn't good enough.

Sad now that even the T'Wolves have likely passed us by in terms of talent while Kawhi gets stuck with Fatty Mills, Fathead, and Fathead Jr...

Spurs FO rubbed one out again this offseason. Even with the assets they can control this summer, they invested in the wrong kind of redundancy -- the kind that can't defend. You use the valuable 1st round pick on a shooting/lead guard PG in White -- one who will have trouble defending. Then you double down and spend 50 million to retain a shooter who has gotten killed for years on the defensive end when it matters.

Disappointing is an understatement. Didn't need to pay Mills when you have DeJounte, White, Forbes and TP coming back in December.

Now when TP comes back in December, no way in Pop sits him as the 3rd PG... Either Pop sits DeJounte no matter how good he performs or Mills plays SG off bench with Tony playing PG which will be very appetizing for opposing teams -- esp GS.

F so far this offseason tbh..

Im going to laugh when they let their defensive ace off the bench walk ( Simmons) and sign Pau to a 3 yr deal.

Management overvalues culture way too damn much.

It's not just that. We lose all our best scouts to other teams. Buford should have stepped aside years ago. I agree, all the moves that made him successful were not made by him but Sam Presti who we also lost. Right now it feels like we are back in the 80s and early 90s when we only had one superstar and no one else to help them. So we can put up a good show during the regular season but come playoffs we will not have enough to make it back to the Finals.
Presti traded Harden for scraps, and lost Durant outright. Two All NBA players for no return. Now, he rents a player by giving up the only Other ball handler an creator besides Russ. Color me unimpressed.

    1. Durant, Curry, Green, Thompson
    2. Harden, CP3, shooters
    3. Westbrook, George
    4. Towns, Butler, Wiggins, Teague
    5. Davis, Cousins, Holiday

Nuggets with Jokic/Sap now, and Gary Harris is better than any guard on the Spurs tbh

Guests have also been pretty formidable with Nurkic on their roster and if Hayward resigns in Utah along with Hill and Gobert takes another step forward the Spurs may find themselves outside the playoff picture (if LMA is moved or pouts all season).

Kawhi's quiet but the "he's not a vocal guy" is old. We saw him in last season and playoffs demanding the ball when the team was in trouble, calling plays for others, talking with Murray and the other young guys on the bench...

It's the result of the maturity Kawhi has gained as a man and player in last years, also an effect of TD's retirement, we all can see that Kawhi has become a leader.

He can handle those new situations in other environments, he's a strong compe or and will be the same guy in SA, LA, or Jupiter, but agree with you he will stay.

He will stay with the Spurs even if he has to play with a bunch of mediocre role players the rest of his career...

He'll stay in San Antonio for the same reason he played for SDSU, other bigger programs tried to recruit him after Fisher/SD showed interest in Kawhi but he decided to stay with the guys who called him first, who trusted in him most...
Kawhi will stay in San Antonio, not because he's "a highly introverted person" but because he's a LOYAL guy.

People who say Kawhi will leave just don't know him, which is sad if we consider he already played 6 years for us...

Nuggets have great depth at C, PF, and SG. If they can get a SF & PG

    C: Jokic, Hernangomez, Hibbert
    PF: Millsap, Faried, Arthur
    SF: Chandler
    SG: Harris, Barton, Murray
    PG: Mudiay, Nelson, Beasley

The people who want Kawhi to leave are not spur fans. The majority of them are bandwagon fans that jumped on the bandwagon back in '14. They are also player fans along with a lot of them being trolls.
