I feel bad for all these posters melting down because the Spurs didn't make any major moves, tbh..what did you expect?

I've been vocal about the strong possibility that the game has passed them by, but the meltdowns over not signing big names are comical..criticizing them for re-signing Mills or the loyalty contact they gave Parker is obviously valid, but you guys really expected Durant and Chris Paul to sign with the Spurs? You expect them to make moves for stars when they don't have any assets to trade?
I don't expect George or Paul by trade, and if Paul was a free agent they'd have a poor chance

But I do hold them to a high standard of not having their heads in their asses and screwing up years and years with ty deals. It's not about expectation; I already knew they were capable of being dumb and thought it possible.

But they shouldn't be dumb. Not with a talent like Kawhi. If they were just a middling team with Andre Drummond as the best player, then do as much dumb loyalty as they want, it doesn't matter.

But they ed up and it's not okay.

I wasn't referring to posters like you, we've been on the same page on everything other than Chris Paul IIRC..

I'm referring to posters comparing the Spurs to other teams making moves for stars with their assets, along with more desirable locations like GS and Houston attracting big name FAs like SA could never do..it's unrealistic..

Durant already had his decision made well before July, last year..Chris Paul had already decided that he was going to Houston..doesn't matter if Spurs created room or sold them on culture, those guys weren't coming to SA..

That's what happens when news leaks that clippers are shaking in their boots over Paul joining us. The Gasol opts out and we are thinking it's happening. Then we show interest in PG and Portz. Then lma and green are getting shopped, and we all thinking it's happening. We are going to give Leonard a stud.

But no. PG gets traded. CP goes for a bag of chips. No meeting with Rose. No interest on Hayward or Milsap. And we speak to iggy. Resign mills. And LMA is still on our team. We are all coming down from a high.

At this point, the Spurs could offer Bonner 3 million dollars to get out of retirement and he'd settle for less to play for the Lakers instead.

I'm not melting down re and my criticism has been aimed at their not playing high-school to give themselves their best chance with one of the cool kids and the inexplicable Mills re-signing. Obviously, there was nothing they could do about the star trades.

Despite the fools gold regular seasons that continue to fool the apologists and casuals, this team isn't that good and I'd like to see them pick a clearly defined direction, one way or the other and not be content and waste Leonard's prime.

Agree that this board is full of hysterical ninnies, but not that the game has passed them by. (If you mean the Spurs.) They got to the WCF and could have pulled some games off them if Kawhi hadn't gone down. And if Durant hadn't pulled one of the biggest pussy moves in sports history, the Spurs would be neck-and-neck as one of the top teams in the league still.

This FO has always been cautious. Plus they are going to reward their big three especially after years of taking lower salaries. Tony Parker is never going to be dumped right after getting hurt, that's ridiculous. Yet the team won the FA sweepstakes two years ago with Aldridge and managed a big coup with Gasol last year. Those are still big wins.

Next year they will face a big challenge in selling a boring, family-oriented city to max fee agents after 1) Aldridge didn't work out, and 2) Durant is still doing his pussy-ass thing in California and it won't matter for several more years.

At those still clinging to this "CIA Pop" nonsense, as if Spurs are outsmarting everyone and are going to end up with piece that moves needle for MLE.

Weren't even mentioned as being interested in Reed, when they desperately need an athletic, mobile big. Watch them go even cheaper, with some combination of Lee, Splitter, Black, Allen, Robinson, etc.

If they were really about maximizing '18 flexibility, they could have signed Meeks for 2/$7M, let Mills walk and signed a minimal veteran third PG. I don't see some master plan; I see a front office that's content.

As an aside, I find it comical how Van Gundy and Thibodeau do a lot of the same things Rivers has always received criticism for from the media, but they're geniuses and he's an idiot. Timberwolves need wing depth and a stretch big and instead blow remaining cap space on another limited to non shooting big.

Wait until they get eliminated from the playoffs. This is a 2 year window for the Warriors. Egos, age, tax, salary cap, nba catching up to them, etc will all hit. This is the start of their downfall. As I said before, this is a movie we have all seen and knows how it will end.

I imagine the Spurs aren't pursuing players they don't feel will fit or are who aren't realistic. Only Iggy and Gay have been tied to the Spurs, and Woj said that Iggy's camp was pushing for the meeting between them.

IMO this feels more like the Spurs acting deliberately with a clear plan, not them reacting to players avoiding them.

I wish. I keep waiting for their insane shooting percentages to crash to the ground. Problem is the league is pretty ty, the rules have been set to help them greatly, and they were a 73 win team before Durant ing decided to join them. They can paper over lots of problems.

But their ownership may look at the tax bill in two or three years and go, "WTF??"

Ya, this is all emotion talking, as usual

Bull , too..you spent months saying that they needed to sign Chris Paul and that should be their plan..that's fine, but he clearly never intended to join the Spurs..what else should they have done? You didn't like my idea of starting fresh, next year, either..so, what do you want? Your last post was all emotional, empty words, so which direction should they take? Kidnap the families of stars and force them to play in SA for their release?

And what shtick is this now? I didn't know I had a "defend the FO" shtick
