Ever since he left for LA to meet with Iggy per his request, he hasn't been heard from again. Dude probably took a planned vacation right in the middle of free agency.
lol, how often do ST posters hear from him anyway?

I mean, why did RC make Iguodala his first meeting if they weren't that interested. That, to me, says they didn't really have much of a plan if they were wasting their time meeting someone that wasn't going to sign.

This is very strange. Was Chris Paul their whole plan? Was George Hill their main backup plan? Was Patty Mills a panic move after those first two fell through?

Why was time wasted meeting Iguodala the first night of meetings? Shouldn't they have been meeting someone they had a realistic chance of signing? Sounds like they had no more backup plans to go with at midnight.

    Gotta love ST.

Before 7/1: These free agents suck and want too much money.

After 7/1: WTF are PATFO doing? Sitting back while all the free agents sign elsewhere!

My wish list is still the same - James Johnson, Chris Singleton (would like to take a chance on him, seems like he had a great season overseas the past year), and Rudy Gay as a third option. Wings with size that can play D (I think Rudy can play decent D in the Spurs system) and do more than shoot 3s on offense.

For a big man I'd like Bogut. Spurs need a traditional big that can bang off of the bench. Start LaMarcus at Center.
Yea, makes sense. Bogut/Gay would be very formidable signings. A guy who can screen would help tremendously, though I imagine once he comes here the refs will call him for moving screens all the time.

Johnson/Singleton would be nice options, better defensively than Gay. I guess I like that Gay can come in and light it up if/when Kawhi goes to the bench or is off.

Damn, that 12:01 panic move could be remembered here for a long time

Zach Lowe said that Mills was a desirable piece for a number of teams..Spurs panicked and jumped the gun once Hill declined to take less, afraid that somebody would entice Patty, I suppose..I love Mills, but he's not going to make or break your season, damn

George Hill and his agent played one of the worst FA games I've seen in a minute, though..
I just wrote that I thought Mills might be a panic signing. Did Zach Lowe say that, or are you saying that based on what Lowe said about other teams interested in Mills?

I thought it was Iggy who decided to meet them first? (could've sworn I remember seeing that somewhere) It seemed it was more Iggy who wasn't truly interested and used Houston/SA as leverage

Yeah, I read that, but what I am saying is why did RC make it a priority to meet him first. We didn't really want him and he didn't really want to sign elsewhere, so why did RC make that his first visit. He should have been visiting someone who was more obtainable. He could have told Iguodala I'll talk to you later.

I would ing LOVE his defense on the team, but the FO will pass because of his offense. I'd rather a defensive player like Tony Allen over an offense only player like Mills any day of the week.

Taking out Gay's injury, what's the drawback with him? Why are people opposed to him? I've always been interested in him for the right price. He's always been too expensive, though.

Gotcha.. Maybe they really valued him if they were planning on moving DG to clear space for GH or someone else? Really no clue. It's possible they talked to others even tho it's not supposed to go down till midnight

Same... Him, Kawhi and DG on the wing vs the Warriors would be great.

I would rather take a gamble on gay than rose. I agree spurs need to give their young guards minutes but I would be very surprised if white wasn't in Austin for the majority of the season. And if gay could even be decent for he wpjmd give us a decent option at PF in smaller lineups and to backup Kawhi

Damn people want Allen in a lineup with Danny Green? They're not shutting down anyone on the Warriors and a 3 on 5 offensive lineup won't outscore them anytime soon.

His offense is pretty inefficient and awkward and he needs the ball.

I guess I haven't watched him that much, but I thought he'd be great, especially when paired with the bench as a main option. What type of shots does he like to take? Midrange? Does he take it to the rack and try and finish much?

Was Chris Paul their whole plan?
spurs were open to trading la and green to clear space for cp3 but didn't like the return value?

also, they would've had $40 million committed to cp3 + tony... on a roster with no la, gasol, lee, dedmon.

hill wasn't in the spurs plans, not surprised they resigned patty.

Talks broke down ( i thought) b/w Spurs/Hill... Has to mean there was some interest, no? Couldve been plan B or C

Yep. They had talks so he had to have been a plan, and I do think he was either plan B or C. I think the Mills signing was a panic signing.
