Spurs need to keep LMA, but motivate him to get in shape this offseason. He looked overweight all year.

Why do people think LA was a good rebounder?

Aldridge was actually terrible rebounding last year. Out of the bigs, he was last on the team in contested rebound % -- most of the boards he did grab were uncontested.
Is this some eye test throwing again?

LMA had the most contested rebounds on the team and at a very respectable 39.5%.

For comparison - contested rebounds % for top 5 rebounders :
    H.Whiteside - 41.4%
    A.Drummond - 42.7%
    D.Jordan - 39.0%
    R.Gobert - 38.5%
    D.Howard - 39.9%
    ---------------------
    Bonus : D.Cousins - 32.6%

Also, note that Aldridge's average rebounding distance is much much higher than any of these, meaning he actually contests shots, instead of turning his back on the shooter and going after the rebound.

Seriously, Aldridge wasn't great last season, but the hate for him is getting ridiculous to the point of throwing bull made up stats just for the sake of hating.

Nah it wasn't. I kept up with the stats all year, LA was last of the top 5 bigs in the statistic for the first 3 quarters of the season.

I guess w/ Pau's reduced role, and Dedmons regression the last quarter of season, Aldridge leaped over those two.

    My mistake.

Anyway, Aldridge is overrated and isn't a winner. Glad he will be gone sometime in the next 11 months.

Is Aldridge's house still on the market? Anyone have a room to rent?

It seemed like when LMA came over here, he became good at what he wasn't known for and bad at everything people liked about him. In his time here, he has improved his rim protection (eye test anyway). He's not horrible, just not as the #2 guy here in SA. If his fragile ego could be salvaged and could see himself as a role player, it wouldn't kill me as a fan to see him stay a spur

Aldridge isn't going to do jack to improve anything. Never has a Spur so blatantly disrespected the franchise out in the open as Aldridge has. And people are talking about him getting in shape and working on some things? I'll honestly be surprised if he shows up to training camp, that's going to be a VERY awkward training camp.

Spurs sadly won't get anything of value in return for LMA, and for a team that isn't getting any younger and desperately needs a second go to man to help Kawhi this is the worst offseason imaginable.

Virtually everyone out West has improved while the Spurs took a step back. LMA being a drama queen and killing his value for trades has really hurt this team along with a bumbling front office from this summer.

For all we know, he could be trolling us. The social media and taking the house of the market stuff...

Until gets done ( trade ) we can guess all we want.

And it ain't an educated guess.

    Spurs send LMA to Utah.
Utah sends Diaw and Favors to Spurs.
That would technically be considered a double favor trade and may not be allowed under cba rules. Would be doing the spurs a favor to give us favors.

The deal is, all 3 have one year left. So, which players are more likely to re-up with which team?

Gotta be a scorer. We don't have enough of those. I'd be willing to sacrifice some defense for scoring as well. This might sound crazy, but I think Frank Kaminsky could be mentored and developed. He's got a nice jumper, 7'0, and can stretch the floor. He's an American white guy I know, but an off the wall thought is that he could be Kawhi's scoring sidekick

I can only say that you took my breath away. Sounds crazy, all right. I agree with that.

I was thinking more along the lines of "(heaven forbid) we keep LMA..." Surely we wouldn't want another big as the #2 guy.

Haha! Well with money and realism in mind, you gotta think outside the box. He's an outside the box player that I'd love to take a flyer on. Can't think of too many players the Spurs realistically could poach right now. One of the many lousy parts about this "super team arms race", not a ton of options

No, for Frank Kaminsky I'd rather see LMA gone. Maybe package around Kaminsky for a trade? Charlotte might welcome him alongside D12?

These trades work 'BUT' neither Memphis, New Orleans nor New York would ever do any of these deals.

LMA + Dejounte Murray to Memphis for Marc Gasol

LMA + Kyle Anderson to New Orleans for Anthony Davis.

LMA + Kyle Anderson + (either) Bryn Forbes 'OR' Dejounte Murray to New York for Carmelo Anthony

Nice to dream but, the GM's, owners and coaches would shoot Pop and RC for even bringing these trades up. If only powder puff LMA would have kept his mouth shut. Now we can only hope that LMA busts his fat ass this upcoming season to convince coaches and GM's around the league that he isn't washed up and can still play the game at a high level.
