New Warriors offensive strategy: Have Swaggy take Mills one-on-one for 20 minutes. How ever will Pop adjust to Nick Young getting a bunch of touches?

People would be laughing at us for signing swaggy got, but GSW does it and it's a great signing.

And no, swaggy got would not make the Spurs better.

It's all about the situation they lucked into and their ownership. That sells itself at this point. If you're a shameless coward, who covets attention and a guaranteed championship and want to parade around pretending to be a real champion, that's the place for you . . . unfortunately, that encompasses a lot of the league.

It's clear they're going out of their way to sign bad reputation/reclamation projects, so that when they win, Myers/Kerr, can get credit for "their culture turning them around and bringing out the best in them".

Young over Clark/McCaw as the backup SG only makes Mills all the more unplayable against them, since it removes his one safe hiding place because Young can just shoot over him.

It really is a mind how the Spurs paid 50 million the first second of FA to lock up a back up PG, a week after they drafted a back up PG.

Patty will get eaten up again against Livingston, McCaw, Young. How long will it be before they realize Patty is expendable? And will White be a better matchup at the PG position off the bench vs. the Warriors by the end of the season?

But so is their payroll. That NBA salary "cap"!
Like you would be complaining if Spurs ownership had to pay a billy and got 2-3 more championships out of it...
    I sincerely doubt it.

I've got a chihuahua that can shoot over Mills.

Dude, I just want a level playing field like the NFL's, not the labyrinthine mess that is the NBA's pseudo-cap that a team with deep pockets (i.e. big market) can "game" as easily as Harden getting an and-1 on a three ball.

Yeah, that's exactly what I said.

Obviously, it doesn't change what the result will be, it just makes a key player all the more unplayable against them and once again begs the question: given that, why was he prioritized, when they're supposedly still trying to contend?

The back up point guard they just drafted will be a better matchup vs. Livingston/McCaw/Young than Mills. Yet, they just locked in another back up PG (Mills) to a 4 yr deal worth 50 million a week after they drafted a back up PG who matches up better vs. Warriors bench.

It really is a mind how the Spurs paid 50 million the first second of FA to lock up a back up PG, a week after they drafted a back up PG.

The only logical conclusion one can draw is, like the apologists, they're content and have seemingly given up even trying to contend, despite having a top 3 player, who's 2 years away from being a UFA, in a league where the majority of stars are now congregating.

gy P is such a terrible pickup are people really saying this a good signing? I believe they used their MLE on this dude, which means they won't be getting dedmon which is good for us tbh.

    Monta Ellis waived, any takers?
If we didn't have a hundred guards, yeah. I would trade Green for a decent young PF though.

Hopefully he goes all Kevin Martin for them. I'd be content with giving any shots to Young if it means taking them away from their 4 All-Stars.

It is a good signing. He's not making or breaking their team, but they have a lot of depth and Nick Young had a really solid season. He's not as bad as people make him out to be.

For GS, these guys aren't about elevating their team; they have their core. It's about depth and rest and still being able to win without putting too much mileage on the best players.

Casspi and Young are very quality signings for a team of GS caliber.

I agree, they are light on bigs and that is an "issue" but who is poised to make them pay for that issue? Plus, now they have trade assets all around and guys to replace those players if they need to make moves.

The Clippers wouldn't have made that 27-point comeback against Memphis in 2012 without Swaggy, tbh. He hit several huge threes during that run.

Okay, maybe "terrible" isn't the right word, but come on, it's Nick Young. His only real asset is his shooting and he's pretty up and down on that. He did shoot a solid % last season but at 36% the two prior years, which isnt that great. obviously he will get better looks, but he is already 31, never was that good to begin with, and doesnt have much game outside of taking stupid shots he is an overall 41% shooter for his career, 37% from 3. He is a decent pickup only because GS has 4 all stars. but that could be said for plenty of other players in the league, surround them with 4 all stars and they'll always look better than they are

Casspi was a solid addition though. I'm just glad they didnt get Dedmon

I know what's going on. My original post just remarked that the GS payroll was exponentially larger than anybody else's.

Wasn't the "big man" issue what people were saying was GS' weakness last year? Well, not only was McGee and Zaza enough to get by and knock Leonard out, they played much better going small. Bigs aren't an issue for Golden State...

Young's great strength is shooting and now he's going on a team where he will get open shots and won't have to go into Swaggy P hero mode? Sounds like a good signing and exactly the kind of team a guy like him should be on.

Me too - Dedmon would have been a really solid addition overall for them. Will be interesting to see where he ends up and its actually looking like SA keeping Dedmon is becoming more viable for both parties.
