Finishing is about being in control at a fast pace and touch. You can improve on it but it's also one of those things that you either have or don't. Tony was a natural. Danny Green will never have it no matter how much he practices and is taught. Murray can certainly improve in this area but he will never be a great finisher.
    Like you said: control.
I can see this kid getting introduced to an ADD medication.
One: he would, obviously, get an RX for... obviously.

Murray on Ritalin? My face gives a smile more evil than Dr. Evil.
Murray on a good dose, prescriptive of Ritalin would be...

    Illegal.

My Manu4tres needs to put the brakes on his Dejounte hype train. He is nowhere near Kawhi as a prospect and shouldn't be unfairly measured against such a lofty standard of development.. (Granted, Leonard walked into a better Spurs team in '11-'12)..
A comparison with Brogdon is more appropriate: similar height, similar wingspan, and similar combo guard position.

What if he knows Apa personally and said the true as Apa being a chick?

LOL. Sometimes the setup for a joke is just too good to pass up. Checking Apa's plumbing has never been on my "to do" list.

As for that rant - I chalk it up to random neurons firing every now and then. There's nothing going on here on ST that a little lithium couldn't help.

The issue with Murray's talent evaluation is that he is such a wildcard.
He has decision problems. He has a really loose handle that hasn't improved. He doesn't have THE BEST instincts at all and yet he flashes some very palatable traits that any coach looks for and he has a good at ude, which coaches (especially Pop) looks at.

And then you add a player like White, who's very controlled. Young, but older and plays older. Not as high a ceiling, but looks like he can run a team in limited minutes and situations with the ability to expand.

Lordy... I'm glad I just root for this team and not running it.
Spot on... but that's what you normally get at the end of the first round. I take the higher ceiling and right at ude guy though and just hope player development can fill in the gaps...will take time.

Lithium makes me puke. I like more naturally grown subs utions.

On lithium, I wouldn't even know what the word "subs ution" was...

For a guy who just shot 6-8 from 3 point line, it amazing how little fans care about Forbes achievement.
He's not flashy and he is small.. and with Patty in the team, who knows if Forbes will play...
but contrast that with having Murray as untouchable and throwing Forbes to the curb.
They also had 1000 trades where they gave away Anderson just bc ... he has a fathead or something.

One has to have a sense of humor .. all I will say.

    Sorry Boban fans.

Wouldn't put too much stock into SL performances when projecting Murray as a starter. Dude plays better as a lower option ans defenders better next to good defensive players. Some guys play up to their level of compe ion

I like Murray. But he's a combo guard. I almost can't count the number of times I've told myself not to get fooled by another combo guard. But I don't think we can base much on SL games, when there really aren't any set plays to speak of, and the players don't have at familiarities.

More than anything else, he's got to come up with some shot(s) besides that damn floater.

Get that RX for Ritalin ASAP...
Don't judge me, I don't even do it anymore: that's what cocaine replaces...

Lol! I'm not going to deny anything and Murray needs Ritalin!
It will make him twice the player he is.

I didn't think he was that bad... it was like Forbes and Bertans the last game, when shots didn't go in they looked like .

It's just ... he does need to do something about his shot... but I think he ended up doing so poorly bc he started forcing shots at one point. He started to try to get into the paint even though there were guys there etc. SL is to learn, so I can't fault him if he's testing the strength of what he can do. He is really slim. He's no Simmons... Simmons is a very stocky strong guard. He actually invites contact so he can finish and doesn't get a block or something. Dijon can't do that obviously. He also doesn't have footwork like Tony's and who are we kidding hes a HoF player for a reason... but I am champion of apparently lost causes... I am going to have to take him under my wing too.

Yes, different styles. But it'll be nice to see Murray demonstrating the same year-on-year development that Brogdon displayed.

White does well when he catches off the swing and he's moving. You can see when it's up to him to initiate that he has to rely on craftiness to get a shot off (like a fade away or bump, etc..)

I was going to reply to this during the game but got busy.

If White can initiate and absorb contact, and use it to get a good shot? That's an NBA skill. You also mentioned him not looking that fast, but sometimes being able to light it up. I've heard guys referred to as "sneaky quick". I don't know yet if White is one of those, but his times in the combine looked pretty respectable. When I thought about PG's like that, my first thought was Chauncey Billups - and I think Billups was sort of the guy that White always wanted to emulate. I'm not saying he's another Chauncey Billups, but a crafty PG who can use contact to his advantage would be a good thing.

I've been an advocate for White but we all need to relax regarding Murray. He's 20 ing years old. He was probably feeling himself a little too much since he knew Parker would be out until mid season.
From his interviews he was already talking about being a leader and helping White and Blossomgame. He just didn't realize that White is actually more seasoned and is miles ahead of him offensively.
Its obvious Murray is pressing. He doesn't seem to be a ass so I expect him to realize he has to continue to grind on defense, facilitate on offense and eventually he'll get into a rhythm.
As far as him finishing on offense, yes it's balance and body control but it's also strength. Murray needs a couple more years in the program and he'll be ready.

Ha, he isn't a lost cause like Fathead but Spurs fan base predictably over hyped him. He will play well some games and validate those who want to be right but overall, he is not yet ready to be an NBA rotation player. That's not to say he never will be.... but he has a lot of work to do. The one thing he does have going for him is youth and athleticism which are two things you cant coach. He has a pretty good ceiling but a pretty low floor as well.

needs to keep grinding. Mr. Derrick White didn't look like this when he was 20 certainly, and JSimms didn't get drafted and didn't get into the NBA until he was 26 and a grown ass man already. That means, like many predicted when he was drafted he was going to be 2 or 3 years away with hard work from being a truly positive player. The comparison to Brogdon is also faulty (not you, others here) two different players, and Brogdon also improved a lot in college and got to the nBA at 24.. Dijon needs to keep pounding that rock.

I was using humor. I wanted Dijon to get drafted and I knew of all his faults in college, but when Spurs keep drafting at the end of the first rounds guys are going to be projects in one way or another. He couldn't shoot worth a lick and that was why he fell so low in the draft. Had he been a lottery draftee like some predicted (analysts even ESPN analysts,) he would have been a bust, but at the 29th pick with his physical tools he has a future, but obviously between now and there, there is a long stretch of work/time/effort he needs to put in. It must be a humbling experience.

[BTW Kyle is not a lost cause.]
