    sooooo...this means either:
    1) He has a large offer from another team(unlikely).
    2) He isn't getting much action and now the Spurs want to attempt to sign him for less than their original offer?
    1) simply Spurs wouldn't not match
    2) There wasn't any offer. Eitherway Spurs could have sign him for whatever.

Only reason is to get rid of cap hold of 1,6 mil and sign someone quick (Brandon Paul)

This is strange. Why would they renounce him if they are still negotiating with him?
My guess is he thinks he could get more and being an RFA hinders that so he's holding out and the Spurs are pulling the chair and saying something like "Let's see what offers you get as a UFA then, buddy" No offers come to what he wants than he has no choice to come down on his price. But as a UFA he can sign short term deals and I think that's what a lot of teams would prefer to pay him. He most likely wants security or a long term deal with big pay. He's likely to get a 1 year deal or 2 year deal now and i doubt anybody will pay more than the mid level. Tyreke Evans a similar player signed for 1 year and got what like 4 mill. I think that's what he's looking at. He really banked on himself tho. He's losing money by the day and if he flames out cause he chooses to leave... Just not smart. Pay your dues like Patty and get paid later, as much as we hate it, Patty paid his dues...

lol. Maybe Lebron told Dejounte, get Carmelo and I'll be there next season. Don't know where we'd get the money from, though.

This is a drastic shift. His QO amount didn't matter if the Spurs are operating above the cap. Renouncing him while still trying to re-sign him also doesn't make sense, they will need to use the LLE now whereas if they kept his QO they could use the LLE on someone else.

Patty hasn't actually signed his contract yet, has he? If the Spurs are still trying to use cap space he would have to sign after it's used up. But which FAs are out there that would be worth re-jiggering everything at this point to use cap space after all?
Mills will be signed last. Full bird right, go over the cap, but still under tax cap.

no outspoken black americans on this team while Poop is running things, that's for sure.

"How dare you ask, of course we're bringing back Manu, a key player on a WCF participant team. Are you coaching now?"

So according to this it was a power move...

Edit: ... If he doesn't come down on his asking price they just move on. Nobody stopping him from getting a raise now. Let's see if anyone bites.
Plus, signing BPaul puts a little added pressure on.

Unless they trade somebody, the signing of Paul, Manu, and Pau would give us 15
    Who is Paul?

I start to imagine, Paul signing with Grizz for MLE.

Matt's being dumb. Simmons and SA can still sign a deal, but it does not affect the MLE.

I hadn't seen the other thread yet. Well, that's the other wing I was talking about. Although, can't he be like Blossomgame and be part of the 2 two-way roster spots?

He's not being totally dumb. It's definitely plausible that SA is going cap space route and then he's right. Not likely but possible.

I'm happy about this. I said this last week SA should lower their offer of 9M as he was gambling he could leverage a better offer. That's fine to do but if you make the market value argument and the market is worse than sa's offer SA has no reason to outbid themselves for a player of Simmons caliber.

We'll have to wait to see the guarantees in his contract. If it's over $50k, then he's likely signed for the season rather the d-league.

No, he's being dumb. There's nothing about pulling the QO that makes using cap space more reasonable.
