My guess is he thinks he could get more and being an RFA hinders that so he's holding out and the Spurs are pulling the chair and saying something like "Let's see what offers you get as a UFA then, buddy" No offers come to what he wants than he has no choice to come down on his price. But as a UFA he can sign short term deals and I think that's what a lot of teams would prefer to pay him. He most likely wants security or a long term deal with big pay. He's likely to get a 1 year deal or 2 year deal now and i doubt anybody will pay more than the mid level. Tyreke Evans a similar player signed for 1 year and got what like 4 mill. I think that's what he's looking at. He really banked on himself tho. He's losing money by the day and if he flames out cause he chooses to leave... Just not smart. Pay your dues like Patty and get paid later, as much as we hate it, Patty paid his dues...
My guess is that he asked to be released to test the UFA market.
It's a guess, but he was probably negotiating from a position of weakness bc the market for roleplayer wings such as him calmed down and being restricted got him no bites. He wanted to see what was out there as an UFA or he was signing that QO for one season and then he was going to be out the next season for sure. I don't think Spurs want to generate that kind of ill will with the player if he's still in the Spurs or with his agent. After the Aldridge thing they don't need more guys int he team that don't want to be here... They probably want him to stay only if he wants to stay not like he's been held hostage to that QO, so the Spurs acquiesced.

I'm shocked at how many SA fans that watched Simmons make him out to be such a good player. I like Simmons, I'd be happy he's back but people seem to have this image of him as an above avenge player
Because the alternative was Kyle Anderson

We're going to act like he wasn't torching Danny the first half of that series until Simmons and Kawhi took over?

I'm assuming the Spurs fans with Argie flags that hate Simmons are against bringing back the other shooting guard that put up even worse numbers and showed up for even less playoff games, right? I'm guessing there's no bias here

That's just false imo. Kyle stepped up just as much impact wise. Also SA needs the skillset of what Simmons HOPED to be. His actual skills are mediocre
    Let's just agree to disagree...

Nate Robinson stopped Lebron a couple of times as well. Who gives a . Kawhi is officially the only guy that can shut down Harden on this team, point blank period.

    This is useful info:

No two-way, no d-league. Dude is expected to grab a roster spot.
    thanks for that tidbit.
Looks to me he's grabbing Jsimms roster spot.
6'4", another guard btw... Spurs collecting guards.

Gunna miss those dunks and the behind the back blocks he made while in transition.
Hopefully he signs cheap and the FO trades his ass with Aldridge.

So... ing... what. Now he can turn the ball over for someone else. People have very selective memories when it comes to this dude. Forbes' legend is starting to grow too now. LOL, summer league.
