We WILL regret this...now we have unathletic players that are undersized, and can't drive the ball...great...
We have brandon Paul. He's the exact same player. All those Simmons nuthuggers will grow to love him and at a fraction of the cost of Simms.

He deserves the same respect as TD when no one was sure if he'd retire, tbh. And no one was clamoring for him to leave.
Sure he does. But that doesn't en le him to hold the team hostage while he contemplates whether he's bought into the thought the team can win. He's not LeBron or something, he's like a 38 year old on his last legs. Just play one more year and ride off in style or retire and come back for jersey night.

Not surprised, but everything about this is bizarre. Why renounce him if they supposedly intend to re-sign him? Why are there conflicting reports about their intent? And if, as has been reported, there was no traction in this negotiation, why wasn't Hanga signed? Maybe he wouldn't take the minimum or close to it, but he'd have been a more direct replacement for Simmons than Paul.

Ginobili's decision probably determines just how much small ball they play because if he retires, they'd be down two rotation wings and his spot more than likely goes to a big.

So it's okay for Porky Parker and Gasol to be grossly overpaid but Simmons is greedy if he wants anywhere near market value.

CIA Popped and RC way to go!

He was the top 1 player against the dubs. That's all that matters. What's the point of the regular season if we can't beat the dubs?
No, he wasn't. Why do people keep insisting on pushing that lie?

Well his market value is very clearly lower than he thought. He had a 9M offer from SA and thought his market was better. He was wrong and will likely pay the price for it.

I know, I mean before that. He was clearly waiting on them and by all accounts, they didn't make much, if any progress with Simmons' agent throughout. You'd think they'd have had the foresight to see where this was going early, pulled the plug then and turned to Hanga. If it wasn't a matter of money, then they just weren't that high on him. Seems strange though given that he appeared to be a natural Simmons replacement.

Posters on this forum are so ing re ed, i swear. lol at anyone thinking Simmons was some kind of make or break impact player. dude was a decent backup but crofl at people thinking we're going to regret this or it's gonna be some big deal to bite us in the ass. Simmons had a few nice games here and there. Overall he was incredibly inconsistent. the would we pay 10 million a year for 6/2/1 a game for a player who is already at his peak?

Ya summer league always translates into NBA success. Jimmer!
He's had two seasons end due to injury.
He's been on the TWolves, Charlotte Hornets, 76ers, Mavs and Cavs summer league teams.

Signed with the 76ers on July 25, 2016, but was waived on October 24 after appearing in four preseason games.

vs Simmons who has kicked ass in a small number of NBA games, most notably vs the Golden gots including the playoffs.

You mean like Green, Porker, Gasol, Mills and who else?
Not buying that Simmons has peaked either.

Got on the team and then earned minutes by developing. The earlier poster said Paul is going to walk on the team and immediately equal Simmons.
So we're going to start all over with the same thing only go back in time to two years ago? WTF was the purpose in sticking with Simmons all this time?
Way to help Kawhi win a Chip.
    Stick to fabricating bull .

So the Spurs are going to repeat the exact same thing with Paul? Oh that's going to help improve the team.
"But but but he played well in summer league" you say.

So who was? Manu played decently but everyone else shat the bed completely. We gave patty and LMA 12 mill and max contract but can't give Simmons 9 mil?

unlike posters on this board, the spurs FO does not evaluate cap space and roster within the vacuum of a single season. thankfully, they've proven to have greater perspective
