I believe it. Pop doesn't like athletic role players. He hates guys that take a chance and go out of the system to make a play. He wants guys that stay in their box. Simmons is too athletic for pops liking.

Well, did not see this coming. Simmons was handicapped. That's the WHOLE ING POINT of being a RFA. If the Spurs did offer him 9 million, then he ed up by turning it down. I'm glad the guy believes in himself, and he doens't owe the Spurs , but if this went down like it looks like it did then I'm dissapointed in him. Spurs must really be looking to make a move next summer if they refused the Chandler deal. I think that would have been a nice piece. I do think its somewhat stupid they just give up their leverage, though. Why just let him become an UFA?

i saw him say it on ESPN a while ago with whatever show he is on with rachel nichols. but he also seemed like he had no idea of what he was talking about.
It's clear Spurs game plan is to attempt to compete the best they can now with both knowns and unknowns (such as the extend of TP's injury and recovery) and have enough cap space to play 2018 comfortably while the other 3-4 big teams in the West will be in cap next year. This is very Spurs-y IMO
Spurs are losing athleticism fast; first Dedmon, now this.
