Start him at SG right away. Send that bum Green a message for being satisfied with his declining mediocre game. Just like we used to do with Belinelli.
Watching his highlights, he kinda reminds me of CJ Miles and Tim Hardaway Jr. I like his off-ball movement. His shooting stroke also looks a lot like Chris Paul's. Definitely excited to see more of him.
Highlights always look impressive.
Paul apparently spent 4 years in college.
He went undrafted in 2012 (that was one year after Leonard was drafted).
He spent a lot of time being injured.
Got waived several times by NBA teams. Also got waived by D-league team.
Played in Europe for several years. Perhaps that kind of seasoning is needed to become an NBA player. We don't know yet what kind of contract he got, but he may need to still compete for a roster spot.
His presence in the Spurs with the #3 will likely upset Chris Paul. It is like he's stealing his 'branding'. His dad and his brother are both named Cliff. I wonder if they are accountants.
Based solely on watching one minute of highlights on YT, he looks better than Simmons.
VS. J Simms. @ 1:50 Paul swats Simmons.

That's what I'm talking about. Simmons is just ing dumb (lack of awareness).
Paul does have some game. He reminds me of simmons with slightly less slashing ability and more 3 point ability
He looks pretty good. I don't get why Simmons got a shot in the NBA and Paul didn't until now. Again, it's just highlight videos, but he looks good. I always like a guy that can shoot. I think he has a higher ceiling than Simmons.
Yeah looks good. A better basketball player than Simmons. Dribbles much better for sure. Shoots much better for sure. Seems to have a lot more moves than Simmons. With 6'10" wingspan, I think he'll have better defense than Simmons.
Of course, would have it been nice to have both Simmons and Paul in the team?????
Only thing about Paul, we will have to live with the expectations that Pop won't play him in playoffs - year 1.
Seems to have good handles too, which always made me nervous with J.Simms (not Danny train wreck nervous, but still enough).
Folks here are being too harsh on J. Simms. I'm happy he got his money, and while he was here he did some good things. The fall out this summer wasn't great, but whatever.
Simmons is 2x the athlete wile Paul is 5x the shooter..
That speaks well for Paul, though. An off-ball player needs to be a credible threat from three to be rotation-worthy.
Still, I don't expect Brandon Paul to be anything more than a 14th-15th man his first year. If he surpasses that I will be surprised and pleased.
I think Paul could surprise some people...but it'll depend on how he does defensively that'll determine how much time he sees long term on the court..
Paul could be the most offensively talented guard on the team tho..

This guy is a joke. A bonafide scrub. Get him off my team.
Says Mr. Play Boban. Though Boban is first in NBA history in PER. Gotta love garbage time
Because Paul has very rarely shot even 40% anywhere he's been in his career.
He's rarely shot anywhere over 40% from the field? I find that hard to believe as he looks like a good shooter, but I guess there is reasons why he hasn't been picked up. Darn, if he's not a decent shooter, then I don't really like the signing that much anymore. I will say that I don't care about percentages that much if he has a feel for shooting the ball and is improving at it. I don't think Simmons or Murray have a feel for shooting the ball at all.
He's right. Not in college, not overseas, only once in the d-league.
Should have signed Paul and Simmons imo
Boban is the most underrated player in NBA history tbh...
The way this league is trending, Gay, like every big SF, who either doesn't have the clout to dictate otherwise or plays next to a top PF, who either can't or is blocked from sliding up to C, was always going to transition into more of a PF. All the Achilles tear did, was expedite it.
Marvin Williams, Draymond Green and Thaddeus Young, are full time starters who long ago made the permanent transition and he's taller than all of them (legit 6'9'' in shoes), in their weight class and only Williams is longer (by .5).
He'll be fine in most matchups and the few he won't be, they can help and/or limit his time in them.
Of course, this is all based on the premise that he's the full time starting PF, which I'm skeptical of.
Definitely looks like the more complete player. I just hope he's able to perform at a high level against much better compe ion.
Hope he gets some time though. If he can get acclimated quickly, you throw him in a lineup with a hopefully healthy Gay + Kawhi and Green and that's some decent length to throw with a lot of switching capabilities
