This will be a disaster... 40 year old ginobili going up against a slew of athletes in the playoffs
You could always do it. It was S&Ts that had to be three-years. The Warriors just gave Nick Young a one-year MLE deal, as another example.

OK, thanks for clearing that up. Hopefully this means they give Gasol his $16 million back for one year to preserve flexibility for next summer.
Simmons leaving gave the team the room they needed to re-up Pau and stay under the tax. But Manu coming back for more than the LLE would kill that. I'll be peeved if Manu gets like $8 Million and Pau gets $30M/3.
I hope so too, but Gasol said he wanted/hoped to sign a multi-year deal. Hopefully, it's just a one year deal.
The addition of Rudy Gay made it easier for Manu to come back. Last year's bench didn't have any volume scorers to take the offensive pressure off of Manu. Off-ball guys like Mills and Bertans along with Anderson being best as a low-usage player made it difficult for Manu to keep things going.
So who do you want as the fifth starter if you want Gay coming off the bench?
Best guard in the team coming back
HEB should feature everyone bringing Manu gifts this year. Like HEB adult diapers, Metamucil or clippers to shave his head ha Gonna be a new killer year of HEB commercials
I know a lot of people are agitated in feeling like this was a loyalty transaction. I totally get that.
But ask yourself who, or which swingman would the Spurs have signed in place of Manu Ginobili that would've made a bigger, or even the same impact on the team, locker room, and their chances of getting out of the West next season.
Against a team that just went 16-1 in the postseason and looks to have gotten even better.
Can you not argue that there's nothing to be done other than to stay the course and hope that somehow everything works out. Just for one more year at least.
Besides, a few (or a whole lot of) breaks here and there and you never know.
This actually happened a little less than 2 months ago and it wasn't a disaster and the guy was one of the best players with a Spur shirt. He went against a slew of athletes in the playoffs and even delivered one of the best blocks you have or will ever seen on one of the great players of the current NBA, an MVP finalist in Harden.
So, there you go...
I don't know about others... but I am not really agitated... I kind of expected it at this point, specially after Jsimms decided not to come back and money wasn't really the reason, but him citing playing time and opportunities to continue to develop. For the smart person, you could deduce signing Rudy Gay and Manu coming back were the likely unspoken reasons he didn't expect his role or minutes to increase. Hanga also doing a 180 turn and reupping in Spain gave an inkling Manu was coming back too.
It doesn't matter. In reality at this point, the team already decided they were not going to seek a guard that could contribute in the FA market. The time to make significant contributors at the guards spots is passed. That's why I expressed disappointment at the Mills signing originally... it wasn't some Mills-hate campaign. It just signaled they were standing pat with their guard rotations from last season.
Woj with the brain fart bads.

Despite Ginobili's advanced age, the guard has never showed any real signs of regressing. Ginobili did miss his first 15 shots of the playoffs, leading many to wonder whether it was time for him to call it quits.![]()
No point at getting the min when we all know the Spurs can't sign anybody of worth, tbh. What's left of the cap space will be divided between Manu and Pau.
yeah..
Something to look for in what is shaping up to be a lost season for Spurs...Love to see Manu be around these younglings for another year..Hopefully the price tag isn't controversial so not to mar his farewell tour, or is it really ?....
Time to hold back the youth, and in his own words, help the other team during the playoffs.
I better not hear a Mexican complaining when Parker plays till he's 41.
Lmao pandering to the Mexicans. He knows he's Austin Bound after this. Sucks.
^^ With Parker Out and unsure of when and how he'll return, Spurs needed an on-court mentor for the many young guards they have on the roster, tbh.
Kawhi is that mentor....
Woj delivering the goods per par:
