Lowe reports from the Cavaliers' perspective: "There is little chance of salvaging their relationship with him," but the team is confident they can bring back a 'king's ransom' in a potential trade.

I'd assume, although idk who they're going to get that from. Minnesota would have the most to offer, but they make the least sense of the team's mentioned. It would almost certainly need to be a 3-team deal where the Cavs receive assets from two separate teams.

If I'm the Cavs I go with a potential rotation of:

    Aldridge/Thompson
    Love/Frye
    James/Korver
    Green/Smith
    Rose/Murray

Get a future first round pick as well and call it a day.

Not bad. Have to think another team would counter by offering more though.

Yes, this is all a wasted exercise. Spurs don't have the assets that Cavs want as is clear by the fact that Kyrie said he wanted to go to the Spurs, and Lowe, in projecting several teams that could meet the criteria that Cavs are looking for didn't even mention the Spurs once. If Kyrie ever came to the Spurs, it would have to be as a free agent. Just not likely he'll ever wear a Spurs jersey, especially with Pop retiring in the next few years.

That would be a pretty sick team tbh.

the lowe article was lazy. he mentions the spurs in one sentence which simply states that a spurs deal ("path") would be "murky", whatever the he means by that. also, he suggests a trade is inevitable, posits that the cavs will reap great benefits and then proceeds to shoot down all the possible scenarios, offering no support for his conclusion in the process.

Cavs going to pay for Love and LMA? Doubt it.

maybe not if Kyrie shows his butt enough so that teams other than the ones on his list realize that he isn't resigning then they would be more hesitant to give up too much on a disgruntled rental. Kyrie really poisoned the well by saying he couldn't didn't want to play with LBJ so what they actually think they can get got hurt right there.

Most teams won't care. They'll give up what it takes to bring in a talent like Kyrie, esp a team with a disgruntled fan base like the Knicks.

I also think Cavs prefer to trade him to the West...why trade him to the East like Miami or NY and possibly spark something in your conference? It's kinda what INDY did with George..

Hard to see them paying for Love, Thompson, Aldridge, and Frye. That's 45 million in payroll, and every one they keep is lux tax dollars too.

As much as we rag on Aldridge, him, Green, Dijon and a first rounder is a king's ransom.

That luxury would be insane. Nate Duncan mentioned that for minimum contract (~2 million) it would cost around $ 8 million overall. Adding Green, LMA and Murray would be $32.7 million minus Kyrie would be still add $14 million dollars in salary. Moving Frye in the deal would cut that to about $6.5 million but would still cost them a ton in the tax.

Agreed. And who knows LMA probably will play better in the east

Spurs were said to be previously discussing a trade around LMA/Green with Cleveland during the draft, so obviously Cleveland has some interest in them.

Bledsoe, Green, Murray, a 2018 1st would be better for them in a three team deal with the Suns and much cheaper. Significantly improve on their defense and add trade Murray and a 1st which could be used as trade assets to try and go for it at the deadline.

Send him to a team in the west who could challange the warriors and hopefully break them up. Let all the teams in the west battle each other and let the Cavs coast to the finals again. And why is everyone mentioning the suns in these 3 team trade ideas?
