    They're unreliable for a variety of reasons and aren't as "smart" as some make them out to be. The manufacturers will of course work to fix these existing problems but it's still a terrible idea IMO. I'd never choose to rely on electronics if I needed to defend myself and I hope they are never forced upon the population.

    Me too but that's no reason to oppose the technology. Like you said these problems can be fixed. If I had kids in the house I'd rather have a smart gun. And if my kid was smart enough to hack it he'd probably be smart enough not to blow his head off with it.

    Now if I was a gun manufacturer, I wouldn't want the liability of selling a "safe" gun.
