Had Duncan come back for one more year and literally just sat on the bench, Spurs would have been short salary needed for Pau. Would have literally been in the same spot this past year (losing to Warriors in WCF; were beating Houston regardless of Pau) and no worse off going forward.




Not in the same ballpark. The Spurs were not bidding against themselves with Patty - they overpaid to prevent a Sixers-like stupid offer from robbing him. For Pau, they literally bid against themselves. One year at $16 with a small guarantee in year two would have been enough.

A non brain dead FO would let Patty walk. The er cant even run an offense, plays no defense and can barely shoot. Like most of our guards.

The more I think about it, the less it makes sense. I really don't understand this. It's not like anybody was going to out-bid us... Pau is already, plays no defense, and is clearly on the decline. I just ing knew Pau opting out to take less was bull , and that they would hand him a loyalty contract anyway. And, like you, just know that Tony and Kyle will get one too.

So what will Tony get everyone? 3 years 30 million?
What about Kyle? 3 years 28 million?

Kyle is not in a position of strength next season. He is a RFA and unless he is spectacular next season is going to be in a similar situation to Jamychal Green, JSimms etc. The market for RFA is difficult except for top tier talent. I could see him be gone next season if the Spurs hardball him, same as JSimms.
