This. Only risk is if he feels no attachment to the organization post-Pop. Which is why we need Pop to hang around until on that 5 year Supermax is signed.

Yeah. Kawhi wants to continue to get benched after an opponent 2-0 run, or get his PPG ted on at the end of the season.

Pop is actually hurting this team from attracting players.

Not all of them are trolls. Both you and Ducks should know of a different angle as I think the three of us grew up watching David Robinson.

When I was a kid I was heartbroken watching D-Rob have to carry a team all season and then saw him break down by the time the playoffs rolled around, or even if he was healthy, watch him be humiliated in the playoffs by teams with players that weren't better than him individually, but the opposing players' teams had much better supporting casts. I hated seeing that and watching him go through that to the point where his body broke down and his prime didn't last as long as I think it should have. I don't want to see that happen to Kawhi. He's worked his ass off to get to this point and I wouldn't want to see what happened with D-Rob happen to him.

That's why I wouldn't be upset with Kawhi if he left. I want him to compete for Championships and have a long career. He saved us by helping Tim get number 5. I really do feel Tim should have had a minimum of 5 rings, so I am forever grateful for that. It just wouldn't have sat well with me if he had less than Kobe, Magic Johnson and some of those guys. I think we should have had 6-8 rings, but we had some bad luck along the way, and also the re-tooling/reloading after some of the Championships wasn't good enough to repeat with the supporting casts he had to work with (2006 being the exception, the Spurs were the best team that season and should have won it). Kawhi helped the Spurs get that 5th one to make sure TD cemented himself as one of the top 5 players of all-time IMO, which is where I always thought he should be when he started his career.

I don't agree with the David Robinson take in the sense their situations are not really similar. David had to play most of his career with bad rosters and teams that had no chance of winning. Kawhi on the other hand was spoiled from the beginning. He's not suffering the same way Dave suffered. David was called soft for years and had little playoff success. Kawhi already has 1 ring, 2 final appearances, 4 WCF appearances. If the Zaza cheapshot didn't happen I believe the Spurs would have beaten the Warriors and would have won it all. Also I don't see Kawhi's body breaking down like David's body did. You have to factor in back then the league was a lot more physical. David got beat up physically every game along with playing a ton of minutes while Kawhi's minutes are not even close to the amount that David played. What happened to David was terrible but you can't let that fear paralyze you when it comes to Kawhi.

I would not hate Kawhi if he left but at the same time I'm not rooting for him if he's on another team. The problem I have is that these trolls are rooting for him to leave the spurs. Everyday there is a hundred posts about how they can't wait to see him leave the spurs but they also claim to be Spur fans. That to me is re ed.

Same here brother. Watched Willy Anderson and thought, when they drafted Sean- him, David coming on board and Elliott were going to kill it, and the team did, but those darn knees of Willy's...
    What could have been...

Not to mention TC's knees. He was a pretty darn good power forward before he got chopped down.

why would any spur fan want this?
people should be spur fans not player fans
Bah, even RC Buford is a player fan ducks. Go watch Kawhi's introduction as a Spur and you'll notice RC wearing a BLACK Polo w/ a gigantic #2 in his back. Why no wearing a Polo w/ CoJo's #5?

Because he only drafted Cojo as a favor to his son who went to UT. Just like he drafted Fathead Jr. as a favor to his good friend Tad Boyle.

Add the fact we didn't keep our most athletic player for $6M/yr. Drunk ass PATFO walking while the league is running

We can't even get scrubs like Simmons for re-sign for a hometown discount, yet the Warriors are re-signing players for the minimum. Usually those types of players leave for more money.

Just fans that don't want Kawhi to waste his prime and that want the front office to be exposed as frauds carried by once in a lifetime talent.

Magic Johnson is on Undisputed saying Kawhi will be the face of the league once Lebron hangs it up, then a minute later is saying his team will have cap space for 2 max players

All this a day after PATFO commits $170,000,000 to Patty Mills, Lamarcus Aldridge, and Pau Gasol over the next 3-4 years...

Both the Clippers and Lakers would be crazy not to go after Kawhi with everything they have.

How many years did Jerry West sign Gallinari for? I think it was 3. Is there a player or team option on the third year?
