Yeah nobody talked about that much but it did make me wonder if a couple of decades of the team being carried by two GOAT players hasn't gone to PATFO's head. Like they spent so much time looking for coaching talent they forgot you need players with talent first. We're pretty much one player from being a lottery team but look at all the coaching talent we have.

So, they missed out on CP3 this year and Durant last year. The Spurs still limped (no TP & only one remaining "big 3" member) into the WC Finals before losing their best player with a huge lead in game 1. "61 win team, we suck."

Call me whatever you want, but I'm not optimistic Fathead Jr. and Gay coming off an achilles tear will keep our bench amongst the best in the league nor do I think Bertans, or Joffery Lauvergne along with Pau are going to be able to maintain that great defense that was a staple of the team the past few years. Meanwhile, other guys are continuing to slip...I worry for Kahwi's health most of all since he'll be carrying a lot of deadweight this season.

But it CAN be fun to actually watch the team as it experiments with new players and new playing strategies. What if Pop goes to 'middle ball" with all players on the court being around 6'8' average and able to play in different setups. You know that different look would cause matchup problems against a lot of teams that stay static in the old NBA player format. The game is changing from what we knew when you get a lot of big men who can go out and shoot the 3 pt shot.
We don't know how this team will shape up, but I'm gonna enjoy the games and not worry about winning the championship. Look at the team as a glass that is half full. Being a fan is supposed to be fun. You know, the old Go Spurs Go bit.

The objective of a point guard is to run an offense, and create scoring opportunities for their teammates.
Few players can claim to have done that better or more efficiently than John Stockton.
He holds the all-time assists record,
He holds the all-time steals record,
7 of the top 10 single season assist totals were produced by Stockton.
He was efficient from the field and dependable from the free throw line.
He was a winner despite the lack of hardware (he ranks No. 5 on the all-time Win Shares below Michael Jordan and right above Tim Duncan) and No. 15 on the WS/48 just below Tim Duncan - who is ranked 14.
Rankings are subjective matters anyways... but to you the thought that he is even a top-10 point guard is revolting because YOU ARE A RACIST.

I've seen Stockton play. Realisticly, he's as good as TJ Mconnel but he played in an era with a deficiency in overall talent.
More importantly, about 60% of his assist were Malone post-ups.
You don't get credited an assist with those kind of passess nowadys lr even at that time. People were jist lenient with Stat keeping because it wasn't as observed as it is now.
You can't be a top 10 pg when you're significantly inferior than the beat player in your team and also never a championship.
The top 10 guys are leads for their team or have won rings with FMVPs.
