i get that deporting is following the letter of the law, and a deviation from that demonstrates a lack of principle and/or weakness, but you need to balance what is essentially ego with the human element of the story, imo
i'm all for immigration reform followed by stricter enforcement going forward, but deporting literally millions of people just isn't going to be practical, feasible, pretty, and to a degree, humane

You become a criminal when you enter illegally, whether it be the USA, a home, a property or anything else. That's what the "illegal" means. It's not a simple term that just means " y on filling out paperwork".
