If I, and some ex-CIA types have independently reached this conclusion, that same conclusion must be being reached within the intelligence community.

Trump berating them in front of a wall of stars for those killed in service likely did not endear him to them. Those that might know, or be able to find out something, will not remain on the sidelines, I would think.

This would suggest to me that Mueller will be getting no small amount of unofficial, back channel help in digging from those in the intelligence community who have reached this conclusion.

People will likely be VERY careful in not breaking laws to help, but these people will be effectively standing in front of the right rocks that need turning over whistling and shuffling their feet.

Mueller is going to know exactly where to look, and this help will be a force multiplier.

If Trump has, as I suspect, laundered money in some way, that will almost certainly find its way to light. We can expect Trump to get increasingly desperate as the investigation starts touching on this. THere is a very real chance he could be jailed, if so, and I can't see anyone giving this asshole a pardon.

Hitler was smarter, and more charismatic.

The kinds of people who follow him on the other hand, are part and parcel of the kinds of everyday Germans who just wanted someone to Make Germany Great Again. A lot of everyday Germans had to go along, even if they never pulled triggers on executions, to allow the truly evil things that the German government ended up doing.

When it comes to the cult-like behavior that is what worries me. One of the primary methods of indoctrinating someone into a cult is to isolate information flows.

The cult leader is the source of the ultimate truth, and everyone else is lying. Trumpists' have been taught to believe that Trump and his state-owned media network, Fox "news" are the only people really telling the truth. Anything that paints the Dear Leader in a bad like is fake.

It works the same in any country, in any cult.

The Trumpist movement bears a lot of the hallmarks of early Nazi-ism, especially when it comes to identifying an external enemy, "immigrants" and making "liberals" as not patriotic enough for wanting to keep them out.

Where this analogy really breaks down is that Trump et al. are just too incompetent to carry out any kind of pogrom, and there is more than a few decent people who will not go quietly.

The Senate Just Took Action To Keep Trump From Interfering In Russia Probe Over Recess

This afternoon, the Senate wrapped up their summer session with a final shot at President Trump.

Senator Murkowski (R-AK), locked in just nine “pro-forma” sessions over the August recess, preventing the President from making recess appointments.

Crucially, this blocks him from firing Attorney General Jeff Sessions and replacing him with an Attorney General who hasn’t recused himself from the investigation into the Russian interference in the 2016 election.

1. The first bit of "news" is that any charges definitely go beyond Gen. Flynn. There was already a different grand jury, in a different place (Virginia), on that case. This DC grand jury is separate — that means the case has moved beyond Flynn, at the very least.
